Last time, Remi pulled some mushrooms out of Akira, and she started acting funny. However, Shizuru and Remi get caught after being knocked out by the military. With that, how are they going to get out of this situation?
From last time, the military knocked out Shizuru and Remi as they got tied up on the propellers. Apparently, they were questioned, but of course, Shizuru and Remi bickered with each other about how annoying the guy was. He instructs the pilots to spin the propellers to punish the girls. After questioning why they need to see the “doctor,” they practically leave them there as the “boss” wants to turn them into skeletons. Yep, they must find a way out if Shizuru and Remi don’t want to die.
Thankfully, they convince a cleaning lady to untie them from the propeller. That is despite being hesitant to do so, but only convinced after Shizuru and Remi that they are going to pee in their pants if they don’t get untied. I guess she realized she is screwed either way, if she helps her or not.
From the lady, she told them what happened after the 7G incident. After the incident, the town expanded before it shrunk. While they got by at first, the doctor, Gappa Makoto Angstrom, led the way. That is until a bigger person called the Boss subjected the tiny people to work, dividing the town by class with the lowest one doing the hard work, like generating power so the Boss could enjoy his life. Seems like a dictatorship to me.
Thankfully, Shizuru and Remi devised a plan while they subdued the soldiers. Meanwhile, besides the beginning of the episode where we see girls make their New Year wishes and the archery competition, we see Yoka cheer Nadeshiko. In another flashback, we see Remi’s reaction when she is upset after eating her textbook pages. Akira says that it serves her right to take the easy way out.
As a result, they break up their friendship temporarily until Akira gets bullied by some boys. Thus, Remi stands up for her and saves the day. Besides making up, Akira made a bracelet as a token of appreciation. It will become important soon.
With that, Shizuru saves the “Doctor,” a scientist lady locked in the control tower. Of course, they eventually got caught as the Boss was there. Thankfully, they protected the people they saved, although Shizuru faced off with the Boss. However, she ultimately gets knocked out and discovers that the Boss came to this town after the 7G incident. He just wanted to make friends as he got bullied.
As expected, he wanted to work at the base, but he got made fun of. So obviously, he forced the people into subjugation as he just wanted to make friends. Of course, Remi comes in, and she starts fighting the Boss. He doesn’t like Gyaru girls, as he uses fighter jets against her. However, he manages to destroy the special bracelet Akira made her. When Remi finds out, she becomes like King Kong, takes out all the planes and wants to finish the Boss. Thankfully, Shizuru snaps her out of this.
We find out that Remi fought the Boss for his mushrooms. Makoto thought that it would reverse Akira’s effects regarding her personality being changed thanks to the impact of 7G. That is after having the mushrooms grow on her and taken out. Even after all that, it doesn’t work. The only thing that does is have Remi eat pages from Akira’s favorite novel. Yep, she was back to herself, but it’s funny how Remi’s eating paper idea from her childhood was the thing that brought her back to her senses.
That said, we learn more about Makoto, the scientist lady and the relation to that train conductor, Zenjiro. They were about to have 7G devices put into them in surgery when Zenjiro saved her by sacrificing himself. This can explain why he is the way he is now, as Makoto worked on 7G, and she knows a lot about how it affects one’s body. In short, while she is a scientist, she is not a medical doctor.
Either way, it looks like she, along with some other people, will try to reach Zenjiro to find a way to improve the 7G situation. As for the Boss, he is taken away to an empty place so he can’t harm anyone. With 21 more stops, I wonder, what lies ahead now that the girls saved the town from a dictatorship?

Train to the End of the World Episode 5: Mini City Mayhem – The Yuri Empire
@chikorita157 I’m surprised by the hardware they had in the episode.
JSDF do indeed have J2s, but the F4 was retired in 1995. Easy to spot plane due to the odd angles of the wings.
They also looked incredibly smooth (must have been 3D graphics) which felt a bit jarring.
Also JSDF do have C-130H airplanes, but to my knowledge they don’t have any AC-130 ones. Which is a terrifying weapon system indeed, but it’s not exactly versatile. The first is a transport, the second a gunship.
Was fully expecting a Gulliver episode, but got something else. Now I’m curious of how things will progress. Most interesting show of the season for me.
Yes, it’s surprising to see all that military equipment, which is interesting. But funny how Shizuru and Remi took care of them quite easily, since they are basically toy sized of course. Still, it’s interesting to see how the world is affected by 7G and the rest of the journey unfolds.
@chikorita157 Those missiles would definitely have hurt them or even kill them. They are pretty potent after all.
But I think it’s an ok thing to not try to be scientific about. Even though boy did they go all out on the airplanes. They looked very good and even if the F4 doesn’t fly anymore it looked really realistic.
Caught up with the latest ep now as well. This is going to be interesting. They are running through the genres for sure.
I hoped for the girls to go kaiju on the Minis and that Reimi did. The big KK would be proud of her love fueled rampage.
Woozy Akira was fun but glad she’s back to her old “sassy to Reimi” self.
Dr Makoto was great.
Yep, Remi fighting against that tyrant did meet expectations for sure. Still, it’s good that Akira is back to her usual self.
