Now that Yoru is willing to work with Kano as an artist, they need money first. However, a certain Oshi seems to like Kano when she is an idol. Who is she?
As expected, Yoru seems embarrassed by doing what she did on the stream while Kano sings. Yep, she got worked up, and Kaho doesn’t want anything to do with it. We find out she is designing a new character for Kano to use, such as JELEE, as her little sister notices.
During work at their part-time job, Yoru finally shows off the new character model sketch. Kano shares her plans for JELEE, but Yoru isn’t confident that she can meet them without interfering with her plans. Of course, Kano reveals that she is studying how to compose music, but obviously, that will not cut it. However, there is a certain someone who can.
The funny thing is that a long black-haired girl came into the shop. That is after Kano put out a donation box. After all, they need money to get her project off the ground. When a young lady came in and put 100,000 yen into the can, they were shocked. The funny thing is that this girl is that she is a big fan of Kanon during her Sundoll days. She got all the CDs and merchandise. After seeing the video, she was confident that the blonde-haired girl must be Tachibana Nonoka. Funny how she uses the same description as Yoru to describe Nono.
Yep, this girl wants Kano to return to her previous idol self. She doesn’t like how Kano bleached her hair blonde. She was willing to put up the funds if she returned to how she was. As expected, Kano is a super fan of Nono, who also has the same canvas bag that Kano has. Yep, Kano revealed that she made that bag. Funny how far this girl has gone to collect all the goods relating to her Oshi. As expected, there is more to this.
As expected, Kano said she didn’t need the money, so she shoved it. She moved on. This girl left, calling Kano a liar. Before long, Kano regrets rejecting the money. After all, earning that much money takes a long time before she realizes she has the wrong bag. The girl took Kano’s bag, sniffed Kano’s jacket and blushed. Yep, she knew that Kano was Nonoka, her Oishi.
Meanwhile, Kano notices a recorder in the bag, and they find out she is good at composing music. She might be the person Kano and Yoru need. Apparently, her name is Takanashi Kim Anouk Mei. Of course, she is in the music program, which is absolutely the person they need to help compose their music.
When they met her, Kano got her stuff back. While Kano asks if Mei will help her compose music for JELEE, she refuses as Nonoka is not doing it. We find out more about Mei. As expected, she had red hair and was bullied by her classmates over her red hair and name because she looked different.
However, this bullying and being looked down on by her peers because she looks different took a toll on her. However, at a music store, there was a Chieki event that an idol group, Sunflower Dolls, was doing. In particular, Tachibana Nonoko, with her pretty looks, cheerful personality, and long, straight black hair, attracted Mei. They got along quickly since she had a lot in common, as she could not make friends. The fact that she thinks Mei has the looks gives her the courage to become more like her. Yep, they even made a promise.
Since that day, she has dyed her hair. She made her hair look like Nonoka’s and even collected every CD and merchandise relating to Kokona. Yep, she is a super fan and seems motivated. However, the day when Kokona left the idol group made her feel bad.
Of course, Kano and Yoru find out that Mei left her ID card and recorder. They went to see her performance, giving Mei the courage to pass the exam. She seemed very happy to see Kano in the audience, and after the performance, she hugged her. Yep, is this already a love triangle, as Mei/Kimura is willing to help her with the music. At last, it’s nice to see Kimura on the team and be with her Oshi. Funny how she still wants Kano to dye her hair black like the old days, but of course, she ignored that. But at least it’s nice to see her have friends who care about her and tell those haters off because of her name and how she looked.

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Episode 2: Fangirl Mayhem – The Yuri Empire
@chikorita157 I was not expecting the over the top fan girl! I thought Kimura would be a calm, reserved struggling piano player but instead I got an almost hyperactive obsessed fan! Very interesting.
I'm still trying to decide how much I like the show. It is solid, and the OP shows it will revolve around the girls dealing with their pasts, which is good. But it feels maybe a bit too hyperactive with not quite enough character substance… but I am comparing it to a VERY high standard, so…
Yep, it was surprising too, but it’s nice to see her become a super fan and something that gives her confidence, thanks to her Oshi. Should be interesting to see how she fits in with the group.
From the first two, or three episodes after replying to this, I think the show is very good at least so far, the characters are interesting given that they are outcasts one way or another.
Fingers crossed Mei’s feelings for Kano become more than just “diehard fangirl”. Her debut was nice as was her connection to Kano.
Excited to learn more about Kiui next time.
Yep, hopefully so, although she is going to have those moments, but we’ll see how she develops and fits in with the team.
Kiui should be a fun one, for obvious reasons.
