Now that we know that Roy Junghardt is still alive, what was his plan?
Believe it or not, Roy’s death is greatly exaggerated as he revealed that all the Immortal Nine was playing according to his script. There are some hints that he faked his death and the fact that he has a memory repository. Since his body is aging, he thought, why just fake his death since his mind is already uploaded and put it into a Nean?
Given that he can transform into Rouge’s Gladiator form, it is convenient to fake his death. In short, Gallion never killed Roy. So much for Rouge misplacing the perpetrator on him, although he is strange in his own right. That is after he moved his existence to his new Nean body.
In short, he controlled the fate of all the Neans. It’s a test, as it is only the most human one. No matter how much Silvia denies it, Roy reveals that he controls the fate of the Immortal Nine. Funny to say that Roy reveals that Silvia’s desire to free the Neans from human control was just setting. Roy proved he could control the Nean’s fate by stopping Silvia’s attack. Yes, these are the “voices” that Cyan heard that caused her to do things against her will.
However, Silvia manages to kill Roy, but he has another trick up his sleeve. Yep, it’s Cyan, as he uses her to kill Silvia and destroy her ID. Now, Cyan faces off against Rouge, but she is at a considerable disadvantage since Naomi is a non-combat Nean. Rouge will be at a huge disadvantage. Although Aes did help to protect Rouge, she got knocked unconscious when Cyan stopped her in her tracks.
You might be wondering about Naomi being with Rouge forever. She wants Rouge to deform, which will merge Naomi with Rouge. Yes, you might be wondering what effect Naomi’s ID has on Rouge’s body. Well, a powered-up form and, of course, Naomi’s existence being with Rouge. Yep, this is the closest thing to yuri in this show. With that, they managed to beat Roy once and for all. Of course, it comes at the cost of losing Cyan.
Eventually, Rouge ultimately decides to activate Code Eve after defeating Roy. After all, with him out of the picture, Rouge can accomplish the goals she and Gene wanted. Yes, for Neans and Humans to be equal.
Sure, Opera showed up thanking Rouge for doing her dirty work and the Usurpers for turning the Neans against the humans and for them to take over. The joke is about her, as Gene put a measure in place to neutralize the virus. In other words, Aes and Eden, besides Rouge, are the only Proto-Neans that survived, and Rouge has Naomi in her. She can still talk through that robotic bird, although her original body is gone. Still, one can say they are together forever.
Final Thoughts
Metallic Rouge is, well, just a mess. Sure, the premise is interesting, with some intrigue about Rouge’s mission to take out the Immortal Nine. However, the pacing is bad, as the show seems to be doing too much in 13 episodes. Even towards the end, with some plot twists, the show still gave a lot of developments and some twists.
Given how rushed everything is, the show reduced my interest. Some interesting things were going for it, such as the Neans and the world-building. If this show had more episodes to work with, maybe the show would have been a bit better. Rushing anything takes the attention away.
In the end, I feel the only thing going for this show is Rouge and Naomi themselves. They are enjoyable and interesting characters, and I do like their interactions. Outside of that, the show felt mediocre, which is disappointing considering this was Bone’s 25th-anniversary celebration. While the production values are good, the story falls a bit short. In short, the show is average, with some enjoyable moments, mainly with Rouge and Naomi and the fights, but that is about all.
@chikorita157 Still haven't watched this last episode, but I feel like the only reason I stuck with this show was there were so few things worth watching winter 2024. Maybe if it were 2002 (when stories were generally worse) and I was watching 4 episodes a day instead of one a week, I might not feel this strongly, but it's 2024 and a weekly stream.
