Now that Naomi and Rouge have arrived at their destination, their next target is a Neans settlement. However, we will find out soon that Naomi and Rouge got into a splat.
As Naomi and Rouge get off the bus, we see Rouge wave goodbye to that camera lady they met along the way last time. She notices a Nean come up to her to inspect the luggage. Yep, it’s the orb that Rouge got. In return, Naomi received a new robotic bird, which she calls her outside persona, Mk II. We see Naomi talk to someone on the phone about handing over the ID.
A Man is playing Clear de Lune in a space station who is Junghardt. We find out that three of The Immortal Nine’s ID orbs are taken. So, of course, there are only 6 that are left. Naomi and Rouge are targeting Phantom Verde, their fourth target in a Nean settlement. This is where we find out that most of the population is Neans. Of course, Naomi saw the Investigator as the group of Neans entered the settlement. Of course, it’s guarded, and only registered Neans and personnel can pass through. This, of course, makes their plans a bit tougher.
Of course, when Naomi had a boiled herm, Rouge panics over the backpack being completely empty. There is no chocolate. Of course, since Rouge offered the children chocolate, Naomi gave the rest of the bars to the children while Rouge was sleeping.
Of course, Rouge gets upset as she wants to go and buy more, and Naomi tells her she can’t. That is when Rouge thought she was free because Jill told her so. Naomi said otherwise and eventually stated that Rouge is a tool for Aletheia. Yep, Rouge storms off. She even throws the transponder onto the ground, calling Naomi to call her stupid. I wonder, can the two ever get back together after this. Naomi instantly regretted what she said and admitted that she was immature, too.
However, she saw a Nean bullied by several guards discriminating against the young Nean. Rouge does not like the idea that Neans are tools or equipment. She gave the guards a beatdown. That is until Doctor Afdal shows up and mentions that the boy is his assistant. Apparently, she knows Rouge as she seeks to get into the Nean encampment. The doctor came to treat Dahlia, but sadly, shortly after, she felt well after the treatment and eventually died.
From there, we find out how bad the living conditions are in the encampment. It really does feel like an apartheid, besides the fact that we see the rough living conditions and minimal rights. Apartheids are wrong no matter what, as we know, given the current situation, and the Nean encampment is one. Also, the interesting thing is that the humans never defeated the Usurpers, but signed a ceasefire.
Moreover, they have minimal rights as the Neans are used to doing jobs that humans won’t touch, such as terraforming the dangerous parts of Mars. Neans can’t do anything because they can’t go against humans. That is why a particular group, the CFN, the Council of Free Neans, sees Rouge as their savior. It’s because she is treated like a human and not bound by that code, but being a Nean herself, she can understand them.
Naomi eventually spotted her using her new bird and was surprised she made it in. However, at some point, we saw that shapeshifting guy from the first episode. When Rouge comes to meet Juval, which seem eager to meet her to find more information on the target she is looking for, she finds him dead. It’s the same setup as last time, and I have a suspicion of who it might be. That is when reinforcements come in and try to control the situation while a traveling carnival is happening. I wonder, can Naomi meet up with Rouge and deal with the situation before it gets worse? We’ll see.
@chikorita157 I liked the quarrel scene between Naomi and Rouge. There's a lot of depth from the previous episodes and the start of this one that it felt natural leading up to that point.
I also like the makeup chocolates Naomi prepared for Rouge when they do reunite.
Yep, hopefully it’s not the end of Naomi and Rouge, but hopefully they will make up. Of course Naomi owes Rouge all that chocolate.
Still, I admit that it’s a sneaky way to get back at Rouge for causing trouble by not staying at the bus and go out and explore.
This series is really interesting.
Agreed, should probably watch it 😉
