Last time, Umika, Yuu, and Haruno brought Matataki back to the group. However, Umika suddenly collapses when the girls decide to go somewhere.
From the last time, Umika suddenly collapses, and Honami is basically nursing her. Funny how she saw her mother bring Umika back from the hospital. Yes, that must be a hectic moment, but at least Umika is safe. Also, Honami freaked out when she saw Umika’s friends come over.
Seeing Umika overly afraid as she locks the door because she doesn’t know that Umika has friends is funny. Also, seeing Matataki’s reaction, thinking that they look like bullies to her, gets even more amusing. Thankfully, Yuu, Haruno, and Matataki explained what happened, and they let them in. We find out that Umika’s and Honami’s mother work at an aquarium during a night shift and just returned and went out to shop.
As expected, Honami is really tired since she nursed Umika overnight. It becomes apparent when she falls asleep while standing leaning on Yuu. Kind of cute, but at least they let Honami sleep. Also, I saw Umika’s dream when she was in a desert, and Yuu gave forehead kisses to Haruno and Matataki. Yuu said she had no forehead kisses to give Umika, which shocked her.
When Yuu came into the room, we got a nice Yuu and Umika moment. When she changes the cooling pad on Umika’s forehead, Umika wants Yuu to kiss her forehead. After doing so, Yuu came down all blushing red. We find that Umika wants Yuu’s forehead kissed and be the only one. Umika seems happy. Honami woke up, went to her older sister’s bedroom, and saw everyone sleeping.
Eventually, Umika went back to the lighthouse after school. They figure out a path forward by possibly entering smaller contests and, of course, the main goal of winning the championships next year. Of course, they must find a way to become a full-fledged club.
As expected, Matataki wants to find next year’s championship with the revenge match. While everyone has their goals in mind, Haruno does not. She will eventually get there and find something she wants to achieve. While Kinashi finds model rockets boring after Umika and her friends show off the rocket launch from Kei’s team, she wishes Umika luck with her club. Umika and her friends can’t let her down as she looks happy. However, Yuu looks a bit flustered after Umika notices her.
As the others head home, Umika decides to go to the top of the lighthouse to talk to Yuu. She notices that Yuu is being flustered as Yuu tries to brush it off as nothing. After Umika feels her forehead, Yuu becomes flustered. It’s because of what happened earlier, as Yuu said she hasn’t done her forehead kiss today.
When Yuu is about to do it, she seems flustered as Umika does it for her instead. After seeing Yuu’s feelings, Yuu seems fine now as they recall the moments they had together at the beginning. Umika is still determined to fulfill the dream she made. It’s pretty fitting when the lighthouse started shining, which is quite fitting to end the series.
Final Thoughts
It’s been a while since there was a Kirara adaptation, but this one is particularly sweet and emotional. Sure, you have the fluffy moments in the beginning with Yuu and Umika when they started getting into making bottle rockets and eventually going to model rockets. It brings back some memories of building model rockets during summer day camp when I was 10 years old.
Of course, there are many emotional moments when Umika overcomes her shyness to make her and Yuu’s dream come true. It’s nice to see Umika grow from barely being able to talk to being able to do so but still having some difficulties. Seeing them get closer together with some lovely moments is also nice.
As expected, the characters are enjoyable. Matataki is a fun character, although a tsundere and a bit cheeky. I do like the idea of a Haruno and Matataki pairing. The moments focused on them were charming moments. Sure, Matataki disagreed with Haruno after losing, but it’s nice that Haruno is determined to bring her back.
Overall, Hoshikuzu Telepath is an enjoyable show. Of course, I enjoy Kirara adaptations. I liked how well the music went well with bringing out the emotional moments. Of course, you can’t forget those forehead kisses. What I call them to do the forehead telepathy is basically the kisses here, which gives some lovely yuri moments. While this adaptation covered two and a half volumes, I hope another season is down the line. Sure, it doesn’t happen, but we could be surprised.
This show is one for the history books and one that saved me emotionally. Forever grateful to Umika and friends. One of the very best of 2023 no doubt.
Not too surprising since Manga Time Kirara titles are my favorite, but as always, despite being the only one, but I really looked forward to this one because it had Yuri as part of the genre, sure the kisses are on the forehead telepathy type. I read the first two volumes before watching this anime, which is surprisingly close.
But I enjoyed the characters as expected.
