Now that Umika has challenged Matataki to a duel, can they win against her? Also, what is the key that Haruno has that opens the door to?
You might be wondering what was the key that Haruno showed. Believe it or not, it’s for an underground secret base that Haruno’s grandfather built. I find it cute how Yuu and Umika are surprised that an underground secret base is underneath the lighthouse. Also, it’s well furnished too. The only reason that Haruno didn’t use it until now is that she misplaced the key until she found it. It’s nice of her to offer a place for Yuu to stay as she was staying at the lighthouse as this is where she came from when she arrived. Still, I must admit that it’s a really cozy-looking hideout.
That said, Umika goes out with Yuu and Haruno to get supplies for the plastic bottle rockets. Of course, Umika’s little sister, Honami, did Umika’s hair before she went out to meet Yuu and Haruno. It’s funny how Umika arrived an hour early before Yuu and Haruno came. Yuu was a bit late, but not too surprising.
After picking up some supplies, Yuu, Umika, and Haruno discovered a recycling bucket filled with plastic bottles. Sadly, they were too small until a silver-haired glass girl was picking up bottles. Sure, this woman thought Umika wanted this bottle, but of course, we know that Umika was charmed by how pretty she was. Of course, this woman gave six of them to Yuu. I suspect she will reappear, but I wonder what she does with all those bottles. Also, they see a movie poster of a big mecha, but it’s obvious what it’s based on. Umika heard that Matataki likes this series.
Besides gathering supplies, the girls had some fun playing at the arcade. Sure, the crane game is rigged. They also ate hamburgers and even took some photos in the photo booth. It’s funny how Umika is camera shy as she almost appears outside the frame. That is until Haruno and Yuu noticed and had her take a photo in the center. While she has a weird expression, Umika seems OK with it.
Meanwhile, Matataki seems annoyed about why she is taking this bottle rocket duel so seriously. She hopes it goes well so Umika and her friends will stop bothering her. I wonder what is her secret weapon to win it.
As for the duel itself, while Yuu wants to be the MC, Matataki intends to get this duel over with. Of course, Matataki took notice of the bottle rocket design that Umika and her friends created based on one of the anime she watched.
However, she is still determined to win. At first, Matataki was in the lead, but Umika managed to surpass her. It looks like they have it in the bag until Matataki brings out the black powder-powered rockets wrapped around the model rocket with a plastic bottle. Isn’t that cheating since, of course, water is no match against black powder-powered rockets. Since the rules didn’t say she couldn’t use black powder to power the rocket, it gave Matataki the advantage as she launched her second rocket and surpassed Umika’s team record.
While Matataki seems smug as she doesn’t have to deal with Umika again, Umika is in tears. It was the only last chance to get to Matataki. Matataki did allow Umika to say her last words. Umika said the goggles on Matataki’s head look awesome. She had wanted to say this to her since middle school and wanted to try to wear them, but Matataki stopped going to school since that day. I find it funny how Matataki hoped to crush Umika’s dreams but instead received flattery. That was before she ran off and got some drinks.
The funny thing is that Matataki shows up to school the next day without wearing indoor shoes since she forgot. As expected, she is her usual self. At least there are signs of Matataki defrosting a little, and also let Umika try on her goggles. With that, Matataki is willing to help them, and now the real fun is about to begin.

Stardust Telepath Episode 4: Rocket Rush – The Yuri Empire
@chikorita157 Matataki cheated, imho.
For sure, yes, I thought it’s a duel with bottle rockets, not model rockets.
(I find it pretty clever she wrapped a plastic bottle around the model rocket and call it a bottle rocket, but it’s a hindsight issue with Umika not making a rule they can only use water rocket launchers and not black powder fuel engines)
Umika didn’t win the duel but she won a new friend so she won everything. Way to go Umika. She’s precious and deserves happiness forever and ever.
Hope Matataki and Haruno become a side-couple.
It’s not too surprising to see Umika admit defeat, although Matataki obviously cheated, but it’s nice to see Umika win her over in the end.
Yes, this needs to happen.
