After much delay, I wonder when the first episode of Uma Musume Third Season will finally air. Since it came out, we finally see Kitasan Black’s and Satono Diamond’s story. Yep, it’s obvious, given that they begin to attend Tracen Academy.
As expected, Kitasan finally ran in her first G1 race. She almost had her win in first place. That is until a horse girl named Duramente emerged from behind and won the race. Yep, Kitasan wasn’t happy that she lost like that.
With that, we see Kitasan wake up in the dorm room. As expected, Satono Diamond is her roommate. Of course, she has a picture of Tokai Teio hung up on her side of the room, along with photos of herself and SatoDia. Of course, I find it cute that Dia has a plushie version of Kitasan. Of course, Kitasan has a Dia plushie, too. Kitasan and Dia are a pairing. However, they aren’t on the same team. More on that later.
Kitasan goes out for training to ensure she doesn’t lose the Nippon Derby next time. Yep, we see her become the errand girl helping carry an old grandmother, assisting a foreigner with directions, and pushing a broken-down pickup truck with a flat tire. That is a pretty good way to build up stamina. Kitasan helped so many people that she had Dia waiting. She is still wearing her tracksuit as Dia is worried about overdoing it.
As expected, Dia and Kitasan are in the same class. Yep, Kitasan pricked herself with the sewing needle while sewing something in class. Thankfully, Dia is there to bandage her thumb. As expected, Dia seems so good at this sewing thing compared to Kitasan since her design seems more detailed than Kitasan’s, which says Derby.
While Dia and Kitasan are more than just best friends, they aren’t on the same team. After all, Dia feels the need to uphold her family’s dream and joins Team Capella. Of course, it’s nice to see Sakura Bakushin appear out of nowhere to recruit Kitasan. I can’t get enough of her, although I wish for this lovely Oujo horse girl, Daiichi Ruby, to appear.
Of course, we know why Kitasan joined Team Spica. As expected, her favorite idol, Tokai Teio, is on the same team. I find it cute how Kitasan takes out a VHS tape, which most Generation Z probably won’t know what it is. Eventually, Kitasan did training as Dia hoped that Satono Crown would win the Japanese Derby.
While Kitasan was practicing, Duramente appeared out of nowhere and ran on the same track. Yep, the fear of losing to her again is high as Kitasan trained hard before Derby in a montage. Is her vigorous training enough for her to win the Derby?
Of course, Kitasan heard some discouraging things while running through town. Still, she didn’t think much of it as she went out with Dia and had a drink with her. While Kitasan asks about Crown, Dia notices that Kitasan is acting nervous. Kitasan asked what Dia thinks about while running. She only thinks about winning. As for Kitasan’s loss from last time, it is still fresh in her mind, especially since the Derby will be more challenging. That is when a child mentions the festival, and Dia states how cute that girl is. Kitasan gets an idea. She should think of the race as a festival as she gets motivated.
Sadly, things don’t quite work out. Towards the end, Duramente caught up to first place as Kitasan fell behind and got 14th place. Yep, I have a feeling that seeing her fall behind as she loses confidence. Can she overcome it, or is she doomed to a string of straight losses. We’ll find out next time.

Glad to be back discussing mostly gay horsies.
As expected Kita’s journey will be a tough one. Let’s cheer her on!
Hope it won’t be too long before Diamond makes her pro debut.
Duramente is sexy and tough. Harder than Mihono Bourbon.
Looking so, but hopefully she pulls through and of course with some more nice Dia and Kitasan moments as well.
Duramente is interesting though… should be interesting to learn more about her eventually.
