Soyo is in shock as Saki and Musume want nothing to do with her attempts to revive CRYCHIC. They just wish for Soyo to move on one way or another. Sadly, this threatened to disband Anon’s band before it even started.
At the beginning of the episode, we find out how Soyo joined Saki’s band. As expected, Soyo’s mother is lovely but very busy with stock trades. For the most part, Soyo is alone at home. Saki asks Soyo if she wants to join her band after listening to her performance at school. While things were good initially, they ended up in disaster after the first performance.
After that incident, it’s evident that Soyo ultimately gave up on the band. That is despite promising that she will be in a band no matter what forever. Eventually, Anon and Tomori noticed Soyo, but she ignored them as if she wanted nothing to do with them. This really hurts Tomori emotionally, seeing Soyo miss her. The funny thing is that Taki was there when Soyo just left the train. Such bad timing.
While Musume won’t help Taki as she wants nothing to do with Soyo, so she has to ask her sister. During a field trip to a concert band, Taki confronts her. Soyo finally reveals she created a band to bring back CRYCHIC. She just used Anon and Rana as stepping stones and didn’t intend for them to stay. Now that Soyo failed to revive CRYCHIC, she wants nothing to do with the band. In other words, she wants to burn it down.
I must say, this is not too surprising, but it shows Soyo’s true color. She is very selfish, and Taki has every right to want to punch her, but she doesn’t. After all, Soyo is hurting Tomori by giving up on the band. Sure, she didn’t reveal this until after the bass stand-in, Umiri, which Taki personally asked, got up and left. She knew the band had other problems that they couldn’t practice or perform properly. That is when Taki reveals why Soyo won’t return, saying the promise is a lie. Tomori gets upset as Anon realizes that she was used by Soyo and simply leaves.
I must admit, MyGo was already in shambles before it even started. Taki wants to keep the band going to fulfill Tomori’s promise. But without Anon and Soyo, even that is an impossible task. Is MyGo finished, and will they disband, or is there a slight chance they can mend things?
Ultimately, I feel bad for Tomori since she is in a bad situation, and none of the girls consider how she feels. At least Umiri is nice to Tomori and gives encouragement by saying she is rooting for her. I hope things work out for Tomori and her bandmates, but I’m not as confident as the band heads for the event horizon of being broken apart for good.
