While we learn why Kanako developed a crush on Hime. However, we discover another part of the story about Sumika. Whatever happened to Nene that caused Sumika to want to break up Kanako’s crush on Hime?
From last time, we learned why Kanako developed what looks like romantic feelings for Hime. After all, Hime is the only girl who understands how she feels and is her only best friend. Of course, why does Sumika feel that Kanako needs to abandon her romantic feelings for Hime?
While Kanako says that she won’t do anything and will keep things as they are and is determined to find a way to get Hime back, Sumika thinks she will become a Blume and make the schwestern thing permanent. She doesn’t want a repeat of what happened. Yes, we are finally learning why Nene is part of why Sumika is against romance at the Café Liebe
Before Mitsuki, Kanako, and Hime joined the café, only Mai, Sumika, Nene, and this long purple-haired, older sister-type girl named Goeido. We don’t know her real name. We all know that Nene and Sumika were sisters in a Schwestern thing. However, Goeido, a lesbian, makes romantic advances toward Nene, who develops a crush on Goeido and realizes she is a lesbian. This is unsurprising since Sumika’s and Nene’s Schwestern thing had no romance despite getting along.
In short, Sumika develops a sense of envy as she tries to warn Nene about Goeido being manipulative. Nene brushes Sumika as not understanding since she was never in love. I can understand why Sumika has a concern, but is she acting this way since she is in the closet?
Eventually, Sumika went in one day and saw Nene and Goeido kissing. She was wearing the cross that Nene had. Yep, this is probably the first actual kiss here. Eventually, Sumika breaks her Schwestern pact with Nene to make it with Goeido. The thing is, Goeido breaks up with Nene and throws her away like a used rag. Sumika was afraid of this, which created a lot of resentment inside her. What if she was able to become romantic with Nene. Could things be different, but that would mean Sumika has to come out of the closet, which she hasn’t yet.
From this disaster, Sumika feels that she needs to stop Kanako from making romantic advancements with Hime. Kanako seems blunt. Despite her crush being one-sided, she is not giving up on Hime and doesn’t care about the Blume thing. Sumika finds this pointless if Kanako will never act on it.
After Mai hands out the ballots, Kanako feels resentment toward Sumika. Things don’t get better when Kanako feels anxious. She is still possessive towards Hime. When Sumika catches her in the act, Kanako gives her an angry look. In short, things aren’t going well, and Hime doesn’t know why.
When Hime asks about it and what happened with Sumika, Kanako eventually breaks down. She says she had enough of the Blume stuff and won’t support Sumika. When Hime says that Kanako needs to learn to talk to others besides Hime, Kanako breaks down. Kanako says that Sumika is interfering with her relationship with Hime. When Hime wants to know what happened, Kanako breaks down, saying Hime is a jerk. Kanako couldn’t tell Hime that Sumika wanted her to give up on Hime.
While I do feel bad for Kanako since she is in a compromising situation, the way she acts is a bit suspicious. When it comes to Hime, her shy girl façade goes away, yet she stands no chance against Mitsuki. I hope Sumika realizes her sexuality and perhaps pairs up with her to make a good pairing. When Hime apologizes, and Sumika sees Kanako crying, she pushes Sumika away. Sumika wonders what she did wrong.
Of course, we see Sumika talk with Nene. Nene saw that Sumika was feeling down as Nene noticed what was going on. Sumika reveals that she is trying to stop Kanako from putting romance in the café, which can destroy the salon. In short, Sumika wants to stop Kanako’s romance with Hime when she doesn’t confess. Nene was blunt about what Sumika was doing.
While Sumika asks about Goeido and mentions her manipulative tendencies, Nene tells her that Sumika shouldn’t meddle in who she falls in love with. She says falling in love and getting dumped is natural. Yep, Nene realizes that Sumika is doing the same with Kanako. Nene suggests Sumika should channel Kanako’s unwanted compassion into something else instead of stopping her. In other words, Sumika made Kanako cry instead of someone that would break stuff. Still, it should be interesting to see who ultimately wins the Blume election and the conclusion of the Sumika/Kanako arc.

My Nene and Sumika’s backstory was very interesting. Really liked Nene bouncing back and saying she may fall in love again one day.
Excited to see how Sumika and Kanoko handle things.
Learning about Nene was interesting, but it does give insights on why Sumika is against workplace romance. But I do hope Sumika figures out way to stop Kanako. Should be interesting to see who wins next time.
