Now that Nagumo is part of the club, there is an upcoming tournament they plan to participate in. However, Shino needs five members so they can participate. Thankfully, she knows someone, but will she join?
From last time, it’s evident that Shino has someone in mind for the fifth member they need for the tournament. However, before that happens, we see Sono practicing Judo with Ami. Yep, it’s not the best idea, but they have five members now. Also, Ami decided to keep doing Judo for now. Apparently, Ami’s match with Michi changed her mind when she decided to stay until after the summer. Obviously, Kasumigaoka High is helping Aoba West with its practice.
Either way, Shino tells them the news about the fifth member. That fifth member is the light brown-haired girl who works at a convivence store. However, before revealing her name since Shino is not sure if she will come back, Kasumigoka Judo Club appeared with two new members.
As expected, Michi practiced with Sono, but she couldn’t throw her down. It’s funny how Sono is still salty about when Michi ate her parfait. However, she wants to learn from her how she does the collar throw, but she refuses. Of course, Michi only wants to learn it from Sono, not Erika, who offered to help. I find it funny how she tickles Sono. She notices the two newcomers that she remembers during middle school judo competitions.
The episode’s highlight is Shino trying to convince the former Judo club member, Himeno before it disbanded. Apparently, she is already done with Judo. However, despite Shino buying a hot dog skewer for her, it wasn’t enough to convince her to join just for the Inter-High qualifiers.
However, we find out that Himeno quit Judo initially for the same reasons Michi did before she changed her mind. She hates having her hair pulled and being tired all the time. Since all the upperclassmen left, leaving her as the only member, she decided to call it quits. After all, practicing alone is a bit difficult. We even see a flashback where Shino tries to convince her to see the new team, but Himeno refuses. However, Ami calling Himeno changed her mind as she told her about the match she had against the new Aoba West team.
During practice, with only a month left, Himeno shows up. Yep, it seems that she will give Judo another try, and Michi looks very happy to see her. She was only going to look at them first. After seeing the girls practice and Michi pull off a mode Ami did, she finally changed her mind. That is when she does a throw on Shino to show her skills. Either way, Michi is fired up. We also see a flashback of that time when Himeno practiced with Shino. When Himeno woke up, she was wearing her Judogi. Either way, that was a nice transition.
Either way, Michi and her friends threw a welcome party. It’s nice to learn how Himeno hides her pretty hair and avoids detection from that macho gym teacher. Yep, she has a black-haired wig and knows how to detect and avoid him. But, of course, she also mentions her part-time job on weekends. So, of course, Michi had to say that taboo topic again.
Of course, it’s funny to see Michi look around and check Sono and her teammates aren’t there. After all, she doesn’t want to eat a parfait that isn’t hers. After all, they had matcha parfaits, which sounds nice. Either way, are the girls ready after training for a month before the qualifiers? We’ll see the fruits of their training and the new members next time.
Himeno’s story was similar to Michi’s but better for one obvious reason. Also I dream of her and Hot Coach hookinflg up.
Lastly Michi’s running gag must die. It’s like she wants us to not like her as much as we want to. At least she doesn’t do it every episode.
Yes, Himeno’s story is very familar to Michi’s, but it’s nice to see that her past has more involvement with Shino and no blatant obsession over boys. Yes, that gag is kind of getting annoying and not every anime needs to be about boys and stuff, there are plenty of romantic comedies and harem shows that do that already.
