Now that Nagi has failed to get the hitman to kill Ranko since Okachimachi killed him first, things are about to take a turn for the worse.
From last time, it seems that Ranko dodged a bullet, thanks to Okachimachi. However, the best option for Ranko was just to leave Akiba. However, she can’t abandon her comrades at Oinky Doink.
Knowing that her plan to have a hitman go after Ranko failed, she takes the nuclear option. She decides to kick Oinky Doink Café out of Creatureland so they can get fed by the wolves. She delivered her message by hanging Okachimachi’s costume and tying it on the radio building sign. Everyone stared at the sign until Okachimachi managed to get her head back, which had the letter. Still, surprising how she didn’t reveal her true identity.
Either way, it seems that everyone is in disbelief now. After all, they risk getting targeted by other maid cafes. Indeed, they did with nasty messages written and plastered on the building. Nagomi gets upset at a sign saying Ranko is a 40-year-old pig. It gets worse when the maids from other Creatureland café come in and harass their customers. They even started to kill Oinky Doink’s loyal customers, and some began to shy away. Zoya wanted to beat the crap out of the rival maids, but Ranko won’t let her. It becomes obvious why.
Ranko finally comes clean that she made a sisterhood pact with Nagi, who is Uzuko. She mentions that they used to get along very well. Also, the head maid, Michiyo, started working as a maid in the 1960s. She was formidable for her pacificism and non-violence. Believe it or not, the café she owned, Maid Teahouse, is where Oinky Doink Café is currently.
As expected, the death flags for Ranko are real, as she is willing to risk her own life to take out Nagi. Of course, no maids are eager to join her, not even Nagomi. They act as if it’s the last time they will ever see Ranko again. Still, she is worried that Ranko is going to die. Of course, the ramen shop owner revealed that Ranko is doing it to protect Oinky Doink. After all, Ranko enjoyed her time at Oinky Doink ever since she started the job.
The next day when Ranko headed down, she saw the whole crew from Oinky Doink. They want to help her and risk their lives. Not too surprising after hearing what the ramen shop owner said. In other words, Yasuko, Yumechi, Shippon, and Zoya invaded a spa where Dazzlion was having a massage and took her hostage. Yep, at Dazzlion, the maids from other Creatureland cafes didn’t care about the head maid there. That is while they had a shootout between Oinky Doink and Creatureland maids.
Meanwhile, at the headquarters, Nagomi and Ranko met Nagi. Of course, she doesn’t give a crap about the Omoe thing as she smashed the statue on Nagomi’s head. She wants an answer from Ranko to join Creatureland and kill Oinky Doink.
Of course, she doesn’t do that as Nagi decides to kill Ranko as she shows her loyalty to Oinky Doink. That is before Nagomi offered to lop off one of her pigtails, and Nagi asked what Nagomi had to offer. Ranko mentioned that she reminded her of Michiyo. She didn’t like that answer and threatened to kill Nagomi until Ranko started crying, saying Nagi and Nagomi were precious to her. Ultimately, Nagi let Oinky Doink off the hook as long they make money.
While it ended in a ceasefire, Ranko’s death flag remains. Remember the maid that had one of her twin tails lopped off? She somehow survives and decides to backstab Ranko while she picks out a hairclip for Nagomi.
That is the most shocking and saddest way to see Ranko go. But, at least, she died while doing the thing she enjoys the most, being a maid. Nagomi, of course, is distraught that she experiences something like Ranko did with Michiyo.
The question remains, will Oinky Doink take it out on Nagi? Not to mention, the former Maidalien maids can revolt against Nagi. Still, I must give the show props for having the courage to kill off one of their main leads with only one episode to go. Hopefully, Nagomi will rise and restore peace, which Ranko and Nerula wanted all along.
Very sad times indeed. RanGomi went down but we at least got a hopeful sign of what could have been. Alas.
Hope Nagomi doesn’t become Ranko 2.0 after this.
Yes, seeing Ranko go down like that when we thought everything is in the clear is surprising, but the death flags was there.
If Nagomi really goes Ranko 2.0, she would be breaking the promise she made with Nerula. We’ll find out very soon.
