After Nagomi became traumatized by Nerula’s death, she disappeared. So, of course, Ranko becomes concerned about Nagomi’s whereabouts.
From the last time Nagomi witnessed Minami kill Nerula, with whom Nagomi made a sisterhood pact. Her dying wish for Nagomi is to stay the maid she is. However, it seems that this incident was too much that Nagomi gave up being a maid. She simply disappeared for a week suffering from survivor’s guilt. Then, of course, the manager got arrested for Nerula’s death. Not to mention, Oinky Doink Café has to worry about Minami’s maid gang still at large.
I know some are afraid that Nagomi would go down the same path as Ranko, but from the looks of it, we can breathe a sigh of relief. When Ranko hands out leaflets, she notices a familiar-looking person handing out coupons. I find it funny how Ranko recognized Nagomi wearing a ninja outfit. Her hair, voice, and eyebrows gave it away so quickly.
Even after visiting the café Nagomi works at, she tries to deny it’s Nagomi. But, sadly, she isn’t doing a good job creating a new identity. Yep, she lies about having fun being a ninja, but obviously, her heart isn’t in the same place as she gets upset. She still enjoys being a maid but isn’t sure she can protect her friends after she couldn’t protect Nerula.
While Ranko still wants Nagomi to be a maid, given what she went through, Nagomi doesn’t think Ranko understands. The thing that probably changed her mind was three men who were big fans of Nerula, given her kind personality. They don’t blame Nagomi as Narula tells the guys how much Nagomi means to her. Still, like Nagomi, those guys who were Nerula’s fans also felt grief from her death. They mention that Nagomi makes a good maid as they hand her a photo of Nerula.
While Nagomi returned to that spot, she still experienced PTSD from that incident. That is until that ramen guy asked if Nagomi would return to the café. Nagomi wonders what she can do to repay Nerula. The ramen shopkeeper talks about changing the taste of ramen quite a lot. However, the customers still love it since it still tastes the same.
In other words, he is telling Nagomi to change but stay the same. This goes back to what Nerula said. Perhaps there is a way for Nagomi to deal with those bad maids that attack her and her friends without resorting to being a hard cold killer. We find out soon enough what she does.
Meanwhile, Minami finally decides to storm Oinky Doink Café. Sure, Ranko, Yumechi, Rippon, and Zoya, along with the manager, put up a good fight. Still, they are eventually close to being overwhelmed by Minami and her gang.
Thankfully, Nagomi comes in using her ninja weapons and manages to take away Minami’s machine gun. At least Nagomi uses non-lethal weapons to cripple the opposing maids. This is starting to feel like she took the ethos from Chisato of taking down enemies without killing. She let her friends do that work. Even with her faceoff with Minami, crippled due to a bullet in one of her legs, she managed to beat down Minami. She even lets her leave.
Eventually, Ukaki and her maids informed Minami that Maidalien was joining Creatureland. Apparently, they had had enough of Minami’s antics. That is before they killed Minami. At least Minami gets what she deserves, although it was a brutal killing. Sadly, Maidalien didn’t receive favorable terms since they lost their war hawk. At least Oinky Doink Café lives another day and is possibly still in a dire state as before, knowing the manager. At least Nagomi can fight without resorting to lethal weapons now and live up to Nerula’s wishes.
Nagonin was fun. She will be missed, as in Nagomi in ninja gear.
Glad she didn’t become Ranko 2.0 and instead a noble badass like Nerula hoped.
Tragic end for Manami. There was no place for the old ways and was denied a terrifying comeback. Wonder what her loyal crew will do now that Maidalien’s absorbed by Creatureland?
Yes, it’s surprising that she decided to become a ninja, but it’s good that it worked out in the end. I admit that I couldn’t stop laughing when Minami says that Nagomi is a ninja and not a maid. Still, it’s good that Nagomi didn’t go down the same path as Ranko, but I wonder how she will fight in the future when the time comes.
Still, curious about Maidalien’s fate after this.
