Last time, Shinji’s assistant got to Chisato to do some nefarious things. Sadly, we know how this turned out, and it’s probably worse than trying to brainwash Chisato. But it’s part of his grand bargain.
As expected, it seems that Takina was a bit too late as Shinji’s assistant successfully carried out her mission. However, while Takina tried to attack her, she escaped. This makes me wonder why the doctor hired her in the first place without a background check. That is one significant malpractice for which the doctor’s office can get sued. Still, quite interesting how the last episode hinted at this with a timer bomb and the robot breaking down.
Thankfully, Chisato is safe, but her heart isn’t. As expected, Shinji’s assistant fried the management aspects to make it impossible to recharge the battery. The thought of Chisato only having two months to live caused her to become, well, not her usual self. When the DA office called Chisato back and wanted her to participate in an important assignment regarding Majima, she refused and referred her to Takina. She receives her camera back, which will become very important.
The one suffering the most is Takina, who developed a strong relationship with her. The thought of losing her. You would think she would get excited by receiving a letter inviting her back to the DA. However, she was not sure when she heard something from Mika. Kurumi tries to find more information about Yoshi, but it is fruitless. That is not until Mika reveals more about his involvement with Yoshi.
As for the backstory, it reveals some compelling aspects. While Chisato has a lot of talent for using her gun, she suffers a congenital heart disease. Either way, she doesn’t have much time to live. So, of course, Yoshi threw a lifeline that he would save her life, but she had to fulfill her mission.
We also learn that the artificial heart Yoshi provided is experimental. Even if she gets a lifeline, she only has about 10 years to live before the artificial heart stops working, and she would need a new one. This is what Yoshi is exactly counting on to turn Chisato into a killing machine and wreak havoc like Majima. Still, we don’t know the purpose of why he did this.
Throughout this process, it seems that Mika changed his mind halfway when he raised Chisato. After seeing her interaction with her savior, it’s apparent that he doesn’t want to turn Chisato into a killing machine. Instead, Yoshi is targeting Chisato as she is not fulfilling her mission.
As expected, Takina overhears all of this. Does this mean that Chisato is screwed either way? We don’t know for sure, as it becomes apparent after the credit that Yoshi planned this. Chisato’s artificial heart already had an expiration date, and he probably had a new and improved one. Of course, she must uphold her end of the bargain and kill someone. After all, he wouldn’t have his assistant do what she did without having a spare, just in case.
From this, while Takina feels bad that Chisato only has two months to live, she is not giving up. It seems that she will take up the offer from the DA to catch Majima. After all, we know he is one of the Allen Institute children.
To share her intentions, she takes Chisato on a date, which feels bittersweet. After all, everything was on a set schedule, except the aquarium was closed. Naturally, this puts a somber mood on the date, but we had a nice moment as Takina shared her intentions to return to the DA. Obviously, she feels anxious as she will become separated from Chisato. But, then again, it’s part of the plan to possibly save her.
That said, it seems that Majima decides to turn against his creator. This makes me wonder how he knows about Shinji and his whereabouts. Also, what does he want? We’ll have to wait and see next time. Clearly, from this, he doesn’t have loyalty towards the Allen Institute and has unfinished business with Chisato.
Either way:

Hopefully it doesn’t come to this. Oh, and Takina said, “Chisato, please don’t leave me!” Probably a heartbreaking way to end off the episode, but hope is not lost, yet. There got to be a miracle or a happy end with the bad guys, aka Yoshi losing.
Worried about Chisato. Hope she’ll make it. Ganbare Takina! Help save your wife!
The date was excellent and the end bittersweet. They deserve a happy ending.
Yes, this was a rather somber episode, but hopefully they will pull through given that the current artificial heart had an expiration date anyway and evil Yoshi might be, might have a “improved one.” Given the twists so far, hopefully there will be a good ending.
