Momo and Shamiko enter Mikan’s body to talk to Ugallu. Clearly, it went a bit over the top.
As always, Shamiko has a fixation on Momo’s midriff. However, thanks to the training with Lilith, she shows off her new wand that can summon a bunch of candy. Also, she transformed her rod into a stick that points Momo and Shamiko to where Ugallu might be. Finally, Shamiko summons up a big whisk. I find it interesting how she used it and managed to materialize Ugallu’s body.
While that effort took a toll on Shamiko’s body, Ugallu looks like a beast demon who protects Mikan from threats. Since she can’t see the outside world, she sees everything as a threat. This can probably explain that vicious attack from last time. It seems that Sakura created a barrier that turns Ugallu’s powerful attacks into some harmless fun. Still, it’s interesting that Fairouz Ai voices her character as she is half Egyptian, which is close enough to Ugallu’s origins. Of course, she also voiced Sakura Hibiki.
Also, Ugallu speaks broken Japanese, and she can’t leave, primarily due to Mikan’s father’s botched-up job. He also thought that lemon fried chicken was a good idea. We learn that he did a botched-up job creating the summoning circle. Given how much trouble Ugallu caused for Mikan, she feels that she is useless and wants to disappear.
We know that Shamiko and Mikan won’t let that happen. So, Shamiko becomes determined to bring Ugallu to the real world. Believe it or not, the stars aligned perfectly. After all, Sakura prepared her plan to summon Ugallu properly but didn’t get the chance to do it. Thanks to Shion’s ingenuity, Anri’s high-quality chicken meat, Lico’s cooking, and taking the fur from Shirosawa, that fur plucking must be really painful. Also, that dirt that Shamiko collected for her photo taken with the gem helped too.
Either way, it’s impressive that even the girls on the Sports Day Committee came to help along with Ryou. Either way, it’s nice that she has a proper body. The next day, she decides to find a new place so she doesn’t bother Mikan. Obviously, Mikan offers a place to stay since Ugallu is part of the family now. Once again, Shamiko made the impossible possible.
Aside from that, Momo finally compliments Shamiko that her way of doing things works, reminding Momo of her older sister. Not too surprising since Sakura’s core is inside Shamiko. Moreover, Shamiko also went into her conscience to find Sakura and learn how she ended up with her core.
Final Thoughts
As expected, Machikado Mazoku 2-Choume has the goodness of the first season and improves on it. The sequel covered a lot of ground as Shamiko finds Riko and Shirosawa. They are what helped Shamiko find Momo’s older sister inside herself. Not only that, Shamiko, with the help of her friend, manages to bring Ugallu out of Mikan’s body, thus resolving Mikan’s curse. All of that wouldn’t be possible without the special wand that Shamiko finds.
Most importantly, Momo even went to the dark side with her Fallen Peach Form to save Shamiko, which looks fantastic. Then again, Momo’s descent into darkness is evident in her school uniform and the hair clips that Shamiko gave her as a gift.
Still, it’s undeniable that Momo’s and Shamiko’s feelings for each other have gotten even closer. Things such as Shamiko’s desire to see Momo’s smile, which she eventually did. There is also Momo falling to the dark side since she didn’t get to eat Shamiko’s cooking. Yes, there is that idol Uchiwa fan telling Momo to fall into darkness makes Shamiko’s feelings apparent.
Either way, it’s incredible how much they covered throughout 4 volumes of the manga and both seasons of the anime. Will there be a third season, which Gochuumon and Hidamari Sketch managed to get? Only time can tell if there is one from that special event early next year. Still, it’s astounding how much progress Shamiko and Momo made compared to the first episode or chapter in the series.
As we discussed over at my pad it’s more of the same goodness with plot progression and world building along with the ever important ShamiMomo progression. Hopefully we get a 3rd season because it is practically begging for one.
Hopefully it will come into fruition, but yes, the new characters and seeing Shamiko make more progress with Momo is always nice.
