Super Cub – Episode 12 (END) – The Long Trip to See Cherry Blossoms

June 23, 2021 by Chikorita157 4 Comments
They had a morning drink before they left.

Now that winter is almost in the rear-view mirror, Koguma, Reiko, and Shii decides to go on a long trip to see some cherry blossoms.

Shii’s sees their daughter off as she heads on her trip.

At last, Koguma and Reiko decided on how they will go see the cherry blossoms. It’s not too surprising since it will take a while for them to go into bloom. Before they depart, they had coffee and of course, Shii’s father brought a loaf of Komisbrot. While Shii’s mother seems worried, Shii reassures her that everything will be fine since Koguma will be there. Sure, Koguma believes in her Super Cub, but Reiko thinks her bike is better. Either way, Shii’s parents see them off as Reiko, Shii, and Koguma departs.

Surprisingly, Shii isn’t freaking out compared to her first time riding with Reiko.
As expected, they ate some nice food.

As for the trip, it’s what you would expect. They saw various landmarks. They also take a break checking their bikes after an hour, had lunch and dinner, and even take a rest. Yes, Shii makes a sandwich with the Komisbrot that she received from her father. She put cream cheese and Kiso smoked salmon. Of course, it tastes good.

Yep, Reiko did it again.
Time to make some obligatory crab jokes again.

They also stayed at an inn in a city where Koguma walked out the shower. As expected, she wants to eat the curry that Koguma made while being naked. Yep, it’s bound to happen again, but Koguma is not allowing it. Yep, she really thought that eating curry while naked makes it taste better. Not to mention, on the second night, they had crab at a guest house. Time to make the Maryland crab jokes. On the last night at, they stayed at a net café.

Shii brings a part of spring back.

Eventually, on the last day, they finally made it to their destination. Of course, the cherry blossoms are already in bloom. Of course, Reiko is surprised by the trip Koguma came up with. In a sense, she kind of made Shii’s wish a reality.

As expected, Shii buys her own Cub.

Aside from that, it seems that Shii had lots of fun as she brings a part of spring back. When they returned, the cherry blossoms already in full bloom. Several days later, Shii reveals that she got a cub of her own. Yes, a little one. Of course, she bought it on an impulse before talking to them. I knew this would eventually happen. At least she can continue her plans of adding a bit of Italy to the family café.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Super Cub is probably the big surprise of this season. I think it’s mostly because of the characters and of course, the scenery. Koguma before she bought a Super Cub had no aim. The show has the same feeling as Yuru Camp, which takes place in around the same region. Besides the nice scenery, the development is gradual, which is nice. While the colors look washed out, when there is a moment that touches Koguma, everything turns into full color. Add that with some classical music, it adds to the overall feeling.

Aside from that, the characters are enjoyable. While Koguma was a loner, she became friends with Reiko, which of course develops a close relationship with her. Not only that, Reiko does some silly things such as climbing up a mountain with a Cub. Even so, it’s funny how she doesn’t want to do certain upgrades, until Koguma done it. Also, there is Shii, who is short, but she is precious. Overall, if you enjoy laid back schoolgirl slice of life show with nice scenery, Super Cub might be worth a watch.

Wonderful ending to a wonderful season! “Super Cub” was my number 1 for the Spring Season, and their ending did not disappoint. Got to love my girl Reiko. Wants to eat in the nude. She is just so free wheeling and oblivious. And Shii on her powder blue cub! Watching the biker gang as a threesome on the road together…precious! The translators mangle the bread. A Komisbrot pronounced like cahmm…. is a Serbian Fruit Cake. Kommissbrot pronounced like comb…. is the German Military Rye bread and it’s delicious especially with sour cream and lox. Makes an excellent meal all by itself with perhaps a nice warm Borscht. Would have liked to have seen a little more growth in Koguma towards a warm heart. After all she now has two very good friends. Sorry to see this one end! And yes you are right, very similar to Yuru Camp. I will watch the Episode again with a map of Japan so that I can follow their journey.

Agreed. It’s definitely one of the most enjoyable shows besides Slime 300-nen. But god bless Reiko, she is an enjoyable character.

Favorite show of the season with three wonderful leads, some nice Koguma X Reiko vibes and Shii’s supreme cuteness. While I don’t ride motorcycles I’d consider it if my humble abode had more big open roads.

Agreed. Yes, I can’t get enough of Reiko and Koguma as always. Still, it’s enjoyable despite not riding motorcycles either.
