After taking a breather last time, Himeno begins work on creating various cushion designs. Despite having a few setbacks and aching arms, she finds a breakthrough.
During home rec class, they are making a hamburg meal. As expected, Himeno is figuring out how to make her cushion. Of course, Mika notices that Himeno is not focusing on making the beef patties. What I find funny is that Mika puts cheese inside the patty and when cooked, it became hallow. Yep, the cheese melted, but this point will become import later as Himeno figures out a final design.
As expected, Himeno becomes so motivated that she takes a lump of clay to create her first cushion design. It looks not only heavy, but also fragile. I find it funny how she takes out a huge lump of clay and work in it like a hamburg patty. Despite her efforts, Mika gives some encouragement while messing up her hair.
Himeno made various designs. She also made one based on Naoko’s coiled danish. Yep, she pushed it to the limit that her arms became sore. She had a hard time coming out of bed, which I find funny. Of course, she becomes curious about the basket that has somen noodles in it. Yep, she created a cushion based on it.
Of course, when Nao sits on the cushion based on the basket, it broke. Yep, the gaps don’t make it a very strong structure. As for others, Mika thinks the third one is the most comfortable while the others, a bit too bumpy or make an indentation. Of course, Himeno thinks she should put a cover on it, but it will make it suspiciously heavy. If she actually did this, what was the point of making the cushion out of ceramics?
While Touko suggests Himeno focus on the looks, she still insists on making it sittable. Of course, after two weeks, she couldn’t come up with nothing, until she braids Mika’s hair after she washed it. From touching Mika’s braided hair, she realizes how hard and strong it is. She thought about what happened to Mika’s hamburg becoming hallow.
At last, she has her eureka moment to do braids for her cushion, but with two strands of clay and a rope. After it dries, she replaces the rope with a soft one. I wonder how the final product will look like. We will find out next time. Still, it’s cute how Mika and Naoko hugs Himeno after she finishes it.
