Shii is grateful for Reiko and Koguma in helping her bring the equipment and supplies. Now, she invites them to come over to her place for a special treat.
The day after the cultural festival, Koguma really notices that it’s getting colder. Besides exchanging drinks, which Reiko had coffee and Koguma, Barley tea, Shii finally comes over. She reveals that she now has an expresso machine at her family’s café. She invites them to come over to her place.
Believe it or not, she rides a bike to school, particularly an Alex Moulton, which is a British-made one. Thankfully, she came to like it. She leads them to her family café, which she works at. The shop’s name is “Beurre,” which means butter in French. The funny thing is that they don’t make French bread or pastries, but German bread.
Overall, the theming inside the café bakery is even stranger. It has an American theme on one half and British on the other in a Tyrolean-style building. Yes, even Reiko doesn’t understand the concept Shii’s parents came up with.
Still, it’s nice that Shii shared the expresso machine she bought for her parents. Shii’s father came down to meet Koguma and Reiko. They serve American and Shii’s own coffee. I find it funny how Shii thinks her father’s rye bread and American coffee tastes terrible. It’s obvious that they have different tastes.
The next day, Koguma and Reiko prepares their bikes for winter. They went to a used stuff shop to look for some gloves. Of course, Reiko becomes distracted and looks at the showcase that contains guns. As expected, Koguma wasn’t happy and drags her back, until something catches her attention. Yes, it’s a mess kit and she decide to buy it despite her temptation. I find it funny how Reiko pokes fun of Koguma for becoming destructed herself.
While looking at the traffic on the street, she saw a biker using handle covers. This gives Koguma an idea as she shows one on the smartphone to Reiko. Of course, Reiko finds them uncool, until she saw Koguma using them after she got them. After riding around, Reiko changes her mind and buys one for herself. I guess she needed some relief from the cold weather.
Again, Reiko and Koguma plays a visit to Shii’s place. Of course, for some reason, Shii doesn’t want them to stay too long. It’s obvious that she doesn’t want them to see her mother or try her father’s bread. As expected, Shii’s mother is just as short as Shii, but only a few inches taller. Believe it or not, she drives a pickup truck. It’s obvious that she wants to experience that American lifestyle. After all, they love their pickup trucks.
While the handle covers are a good step, it seems that there is more work to do to prepare. Not too surprising since winter is coming from the next episode’s title. I guess there is always a hot cup of coffee or tea to warm someone up.
