The big race is finally here as McQueen and Teio makes their final preparations for the Spring Tennsoushou. Of course, the outcome is not what many expected, including myself.
From last time, it’s obvious that Teio and McQueen gets caught up in a PR war trying to one-up each other. Yes, it hit a fever pitch with that magazine article with Teio pasting her head on McQueen’s body while McQueen is shown behind her. It’s obvious that Teio might be showing hubris in thinking that she will win this race. Meanwhile, McQueen’s grandmother reminded her granddaughter, McQueen to keep the eyes on the prize.
While things look good for Teio and McQueen regarding their training, it’s not an indication who will win. Still, it’s quite impressive how fast McQueen ran against Special and Gold Ship. It’s obvious that Teio’s training might not be enough to win first place. Then again, it’s probably the special work of Gold Ship helping McQueen with her training.

Despite this, Teio shows quite a lot of overconfidence when she tells McQueen to be ready to become one of her backup dancers before entering the field as they head to the field. Yep, even when Teio tries to catch up to her during the race, she believed that she can do it. That is until she couldn’t.
As expected, Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond argued over who would win. I would want to be Satono Diamond since McQueen’s grandmother hare and tortoise story might become true. I have to admit that I was probably wrong about the theory about who is the hare and the tortoise in the last post. She ended up being right as Teio might be the hare.
Moreover, while McQueen fixes the hove that came off her shoes, someone in the audience believes that this happened to the most popular horse girl, who ended up losing after. While it looks like a bad omen, it appears that this had no effect on the race.

Despite this, McQueen didn’t end up losing, but surprisingly, it’s Teio. It seems that perhaps her hubris got to her and she underperformed, tremendously. Not only she failed to overtake McQueen, she fell behind to almost came in dead last. I think she focused on the wrong things such as mudslinging her opponent.

Sure, Teio tries to save face by congratulating her, but it’s obvious that she became upset by her defeat. While McQueen tells her not to cry, she ended up doing so. With that, Teio disappointed her idol, Rudolph and broke her streak. The question remain, will she be able to pick herself back on the bootstraps and stage a comeback? To me, I think it’s a difficult road ahead for her. It’s not too surprising since there is another threat with Mihono. Still, I wonder who is that horse girl that is wearing a hoodie that stalks her. That answer may lie in a future episode.
The pony fangirls are always adorable.
I love Team Canopus.
Still intrigued by the stalker horse’s identity.
McQueen getting the upset win was telegraphed way too much. Still, wonder how Teio will recover?
Like you said McQueen won thanks in large part to Gold Ship. Gold McQueen must be the end game. It MUST BE!
That or that the racetrack plays to McQueen’s strength, but I still think all that training with Gold Ship made it happen. That or Teio is too self confident and thinking she had the race in the bag, even if long distance tracks aren’t her strengths, yet. Still, I am curious how she will recover and hopefully not end up with a streak of losses like Special had.
Still, I am wondering, what is that hoodie horse girl is spying on Mihono.
