After learning what happened to Yuki, Kurumi and Yuuri on the first day of the zombie apocalypse, we see Miki’s point of view. Yes, this one is a big downer and relates to the current Covid19 pandemic.
It’s obvious that Shidou Kei and Naoki Miki are more than just best friends. Once can say that they are a couple. On the day of the zombie outbreak, Miki and Kei do various after school activities at the mall. Miki notices something bad is happening on the news. Yes, it’s about a car accident that Megumi saw on her phone.
They went to the mall and Kei saw a cute shiba inu puppy named Taromaru. Its owner is an old lady. After spending time in the bookstore, they heard someone scream. An announcement came on to calm down the people and it got cut off. Apparently, the escalator is turned off. They tried the elevator, but it’s filled with dead bodies. Eventually, the power went off in the mall.
With that, Yuki and Kei try to find a safe place. They don’t know what is happening, until Taromaru went into the changing booth. Apparently, its owner turned into a zombie. Eventually, they managed to shelter in a break room filled with supplies. Yuki and Kei sheltered in place for several days without knowing what have just happened.
This is where this zombie virus or outbreak kinds of reminds me of how Covid19 is playing out. Earlier this year, countries, cities and states around the world shut down. Of course, we know how this turned out. While we are long way until there is a viable vaccine and everyone taking it, some people just don’t want to stay at home all the time. After all, humans are social animals and for some, especially extroverts, they can’t stand being stuck at home not socializing with people.
This is what we call “Karen.” These are people who defy social distancing measures, refuse to stay home, not wear masks, and make a big deal about it when people ask them to wear a mask. Yes, some of these people protesting shutdown orders knowing full well that the virus can kill people. If this was the zombie virus instead of Covid19, we already failed.
With that, what annoys me about Kei is that she doesn’t want to shelter and want to go outside. I get it, cabin fever can become tough. However, she doesn’t know the scale of this disease and it’s not forever. She only needs to shelter with Miki until other survivors or someone come to rescue them. Sure, it’s boring having to stay in one room with nothing to do.
Sadly, her desire to leave Miki behind makes Kei is a “Karen” at heart. Miki knows that she won’t survive, and I feel sympathetic towards her. After all, Kei is being unreasonable and not valuing her life. Miki eventually took her feelings out of Taromaru and scared the dog off. If only Kei stick with Miki a bit longer, maybe she will still be alive.
Meanwhile, Yuki wants to take a field trip. Eventually, she receives approval and gets the key to Megumi’s car. Believe it or not, Kurumi managed to get to the car, with some difficulties. It’s surprising that she can drive a car since she only learns how to do it from a video game. Either way, the girls have a nice breather seeing a glimpse of the outside world ravaged by zombies.
Yuki and her friends arrive at the mall. As expected, it’s filled with zombies. They stocked up on supplies and even try on some clothing. Yes, Kurumi, Yuuri and Yuki tried on swimsuits too. They also ran into Taromaru who started barking for some reason. Apparently, Miki has some hope as she hears voices.
Of course, Kurumi accidentally checked a theater room that is purposely locked with a broom. Yes, it seems that curiosity killed the cat as she knows full well that there are a bunch of zombies there. From there, Yuuki freezes up as Kurumi led her to somewhere as she meets up with Yuuri. This makes me wonder what memory that triggers this. Eventually, they managed to find a safe place after being detected by zombies and rest for a bit.
Also, Miki heard that there are survivors, she decides to pack her things up and leave. While Miki tried to escape, zombies surrounded her. She eventually screamed for help and Yuki heard her voice. Others came to rescue Miki. Thankfully, Yuuri uses the alarm as Yuuki runs towards Miki to save her. This stuns the zombies, giving Miki the opportunity to escape with the others. However, we see a glimpse of the moment where Yuki freezes up and it involves Megumi.
Miki eventually wakes up and Yuki was there. She shows her around the school and eventually ended up in the music room. Miki notices that Yuki is acting strangely. She was talking to someone that is Megumi, who doesn’t exist. This makes me wonder if Megumi is alive, especially considering that flashback with zombies surrounding her. Yuuri later reveals that Yuki really wanted to save her, but she and Kurumi knows it’s too late. After all, she is probably dead and already infected from the bite.
Yuuri tells Miki about the current situation. Apparently, Megumi, their teacher protected her students from the zombies. Despite what happened to Megumi, Yuki can still see her. This makes me wonder if Yuki acts as if everything is normal to forget what has happened to her. Still, I wonder why Yuki decided to live in the bubble to forget the grim reality. We’ll find out more about that later.
Regardless, Yuuri wants Miki to go along with this. The School Living Club in a way is there to help protect Yuki’s state of mind until the time comes. Miki decides plays along. She had so much fun that she wants to join the club. After all, this is for the best since this is her best chance for survival. Still, it’s nice to see her having fun with her new friends in the sports festival Yuki decides to have.
More sexiness is coming. Relish it when it does before the madness continues.
The feels struck hard already but will strike even harder soon enough.
We’ll see when the time finally come. Still, It’s kind of sad that Miki lost Kei, mostly because Kei being selfish. Still, it’s not the worst of everything just yet.
