The day has finally come as the final round of the Jet Ski competition commences. Will Misa and Rin win against Kaguya and Kuromaru?
Last time, it seems that Misa and Rin resolve their difference. Misa revealed that she came close to quit jet skiing and that her older sister does jet skiing racing too. Also, Rin decides not to follow her mother’s footsteps and race her way in the finals. In other words, this can explain why Misa finally let Rin use the friendship seal on their jet ski. Sure, she thought it was embarrassing at first. In the end, this symbolic to show how far their relationship progressed.
As for the race, Misa and Rin started steady. Eventually they used an opportunity to pass Manatsu and Yuzu, Diyu and Ziyu, and Emily and Jennifer by a large margin. Manatsu and Yuzu tries to catch up to them by using their boost. Instead, they ended up crashing into Diyu and Ziyu and Emily and Jennifer. In other words, they eliminated themselves and two of their competition from the race.
This leaves Kaguya and Kuromaru and Fuka and Inori fighting for first place. I kind of find it funny how Kuromaru and Misa decides to work together to shoot at Fuka’s team jet ski to power it down. After they eliminated them, Rin and Kaguya activated their boost to head to the finish line. By some luck, Rin and Misa passes the finish line. This is when Kaguya saw how much fun Rin and Misa are having.
Either way, this is a predictable win for Rin and Misa as they finally overcame their hurdle that held them back before. I guess this makes up for Rin and Misa losing against Kaguya and Kuromaru in the first episode. Also, Rin finally declares her love for Misa by actually confessing how much she loves her. I guess they finally got the relationship upgrade they needed.
Final Impressions
While the story is nothing special as it’s an underdog story with a new jet ski team try to aim for the top, I only really watched this show for the pairings. In that respect, it’s satisfying. It’s nice to see how a cheerful Rin manages to defrost Misa who is cold, but shy as she struggles to reveal her true feelings.
As they get closer, they get better at jet skiing. I have to admit that it’s cute to see Misa blush and not allow Rin to use the friendship seal because it’s embarrassing. Of course, deep inside, she probably finds it adorable. Yes, she finally gives in towards the end for obvious reasons.
Overall, Kandagawa Jet Girls is at best a guilty pleasure with for me mostly because I don’t normally cover ecchi anime. Of course, some people will have mixed feelings since this show has lots of fanservice. If that is the case, this is not the show for you. It’s to be expected given the censored nudity. Aside from that, the yuri pairings are very good to satisfy yuri fans. In particular, Rin and Misa, Diyu and Ziyu, and Fuka and Inori. This aspect makes this show enjoyable to watch if you put fanservice aside, unless it’s your kind of thing.
Best of Fall 2019. No question.
Rin and Misa’s romance was the best part of the show but the other couples, races and rest of the cast were great too. The show rocked hard is what I’m saying.
Yes, Rin and Misa is the best part of the show. It only take some gradual defrosting to make a huge difference.
