Now Momo knows the truth about what happen to Shamiko, she feels that she is Shamiko’s mortal enemy. Can Shamiko convince her otherwise?
From last time, Shamiko’s mother, Seiko revealed the truth that shocks Momo. As a result, Momo feels that she can’t be with Shamiko since she is her mortal enemy. I guess the revelations of her older sister sealing Shamiko’s father away was too much for her to handle. However, are there other reasons why Momo feels down? That is for Shamiko to find out.
With that, Seiko finally reveals some things about her husband. Her husband is apparently named Joshua. Of course, he looks like a bishounen with similar horns and hair color that Lilith has. The interesting thing is that he is half-Mesopotamian. The funny thing is that the picture with Joshua and Seiko looks really familiar to the photo of Momo and Shamiko. It becomes obvious very soon.
I guess this can explain why Lilith knows so much history about Mesopotamia. Not only that, their family name is not actually real, but a placeholder name that is based on his name. That is quite clever. Sadly, Shamiko has no hope of growing taller since her father is also short. On the bright side, at least Shamiko won’t age.
With that, Shamiko learns more about Momo from Mikan while she looks for her. She told the truth about what happened to Momo’s older sister to Mikan. Apparently, Momo is looking for her older sister. When Shamiko mentions that she saw Momo after she saves her from a truck, Mikan comes up with a theory. Apparently, Metako can detect Sakura’s presence in Shamiko. From this, Mikan believes that Shamiko’s meeting with Momo is done by fate.
At last, Shamiko finally finds out the place where Momo is. She is looking at the city near a cherry blossom tree. After finding Momo, it’s quite obvious that Shamiko wants to be with her. I guess the proposal of asking Momo to form a contract and become her vassal can be seen as something more. After all, they have the same goal of finding her older sister.
This makes you wonder, is this a marriage proposal? It seems like it as she promises her to cook and do house chores. While Momo said that Shamiko doesn’t need to go that far, she realized something. She would become weaker and saw through Lilith’s plan, although those are Shamiko’s words. Momo reverses the roles and asks Shamiko to seek other demons in exchange of protection and training.
I guess Momo realizes that if she gives Shamiko all the powers, it would be impossible for her to work together to achieve their goals. In other words, Shamiko would still have to defeat her for her to become a vassal. On the blight side, Momo won’t run away from her anymore.
With that, it appears that Momo changed her uniform to a darker color. Is this symbolic that they are more than just friends? Sure, Shamiko wanted to write an invitation for a duel, but ends up giving her a letter that sounds like a love letter. When Momo went back to the cherry blossom tree while wearing a dress, Shamiko was in her gym clothes. Yes, Momo thought that she was going on a date with Shamiko. On the other hand, Shamiko wanted a duel. I guess some things don’t change.
Final Impressions
Despite being the only Manga Time Kirara anime adaptation for this year, Machikado Mazoku is a very entertaining show. While the anime follows the first two volumes of the manga faithfully, the characters are very enjoyable. While Shamiko is ditzy and wants to defeat Momo to break the curse, she eventually falls in love for her without realizing. Not only that, the comedy is funny as Shamiko attempts to beat Momo without realizing that she outsmart her. While the story is ongoing, it would be nice to see another season in the future.
ShamiMomo are strong contenders for Best Couple of 2019.
One of my favorite comedies of the year alongside Joshikousei no Mudazukai.
Yes, agreed. Given that this is the only Manga Time Kirara adaptation, I suppose that this will be on the top 10.
Indeed.
