At last, Afterglow plans to perform at the annual Happy Go Festival. However, it doesn’t go well as expected in terms of weather.
In the beginning of the episode as Rokka hangs up a poster, I find it funny how she freaks out when she saw someone passed out. While we don’t know her name, that woman seems to find Rokka cute. It’s only a matter of time until we learn who she actually is.
Aside from that, Tsugumi is having a meeting with representatives of the local shops. These representatives happen to be members of various girl bands. With that, we have Saaya, Moca, Tomoe (and her little sister, Ako), Hagumi, and Rokka. I find it funny how three old ladies organize this event with Tsugumi. Apparently, they want to bring in more young people to revive the market. In short, Tsugumi convinces her band to perform at the festival.
As expected, when Rokka asks Saaya if Poppin Party will perform at the festival, it’s obvious what the answer will be. Of course, they will since Kasumi wants to perform at any opportunity they can. Still, it seems that they are finding a place to do their self-sponsored show at and eventually figured it out. more on that later.
The interesting part of this episode is how five girls who are always together forms a band. Apparently, Ran, Moca, Tomoe, Himari and Tsugumi were always together, even in the same class. Sadly, it came to an end when the school places Ran into a different class during middle school. I have to admit, it’s quite a miracle they are able to stay together for that long.
Given that they can’t be together, Tsugumi comes up with a good idea. Do the same hobby so they can be together. It’s interesting how they eventually name their band Afterglow. Yes, it’s inspired by the sunset they saw when they decided on a name and that they always practice after school. Aside from that, Afterglow have a big dream to perform at the Budokan. That is an ambitious goal to reach, but hopefully they will reach it someday.
While the festival wasn’t smooth sailing since it started raining, thankfully, it worked out in the end. Despite the girls getting wet from the rain, the sky eventually clears up. While it took some work, they made it on time before the sun started to set. At least Kasumi was able to surprise Rokka by saying that they will do their self-sponsored event at the Galaxy Live House. This makes me curious why they decided on that venue. It must be the photos when they performed there in the first episode. Still, I wonder who is that woman at the end who sees Poppin Party take pictures at the Budokan. We’ll find out next time.
