Kasumi and her friends finally past the audition at the Space live house and performed the last live there. Some time passed has as Kasumi and her friends enter their second year of high school.
At last, Kasumi and her friends enter their second year of high school. Apparently, we see some new faces, namely Sayo and Rinko, who is apparently student council president. I wonder why Rinko decided to become one given how shy she is. It’s obvious that someone forced her to do it.
Apparently, Asuka, Kasumi’s little sister apparently attending a different school. In her school, some members of Roselia (namely Ako seen having a similar personality) and Afterglow attend school there.
I find it funny how Arisa decided to become a secretary for student council. Apparently, it looked good on her report card. Still, it’s quite obvious that Kasumi is dragging her to school. This is not surprising given how close they are, even in the prequel. If Kasumi spending time with Arisa in the student council room isn’t a big indication of this, what wouldn’t be?
With that, it’s nice to see how everyone else is doing. While Rimi’s older sister went to college abroad, it seems that they keep in touch with each other often. At least Saaya is there to keep her company. Sadly, Tae got the short end of the stick. While Kasumi, Arisa, Saaya, and Rimi managed to get in the same class together, Tae is all alone in the last possible class. Yes, it’s class E. It’s easy to feel bad for her, but she will manage. After all, they will be together after school for band practice.
While Kasumi and her friends couldn’t practice since Arisa came home late, they took a walk. Apparently, Kasumi wants perform a live show. By chance, someone was looking for them to perform at Galaxy live house. Her name is Rokka Asahi and yes, this is the girl who Asuka bumped into during her first day. Aside from Poppin Party performing last, Afterglow, Hello Happy World and Roselia performed there as well.
After the performance, Kasumi announced that Poppin Party will do another live show after Yukina said that her band will be sponsoring her own band’s live show. It’s an indication that Kasumi wants to perform more or that competition is heating up.
For the most part, this first episode pretty serves as a transition episode from the first season and of course, introducing most of the new bands. Of course, Pastel Palettes, the other major band haven’t performed at the live house, although they appeared at the beginning of the episode. I suspect that they will get a formal introduction sooner than later. Aside from that, the major difference is that the show is now fully CG animated. Sure, it can turn some people off, but at least the animation will look consistent as the CG won’t look so jarring with the 2D animation.
It was great seeing Poppin’ Party again and am looking forward to seeing how the non-PoPiPa coules snuggle.
It’s obvious that the rivalry between Roselia and Afterglow is there. But as always, I look forward to seeing more Kasumi and Arisa moments.
I only played the game, and to be frank, not too fond of the CG look based on the little of what I’ve seen, lol. Was the first season like this too?
In the first season, only the performances were in CG from what I remembered. Everything else was in 2D.
