As the student council study camp begins, Touko learns the truth about her older sister. This put into question what kind of person Touko wants to be.
After Yuu spent her free time during vacation week, the student council study camp begins. At the camp, the student council rehearsed the scripts. Koyomi and Riko helped them out. After the first day ended, Koyomi went home while the rest ate dinner. Touko, Yuu and Sayaka eventually took a bath together. However, they refrained from doing anything intimate. When they are asleep, they restrained themselves from touching each other’s hands.
The next day, Riko introduces Ichigaya, who is the part of her theater troupe she participates in. During the rehearsals, Ichigaya complements how reliable Touko. He also makes a remark that the council president he dealth with just takes it easy and orders everyone around. This causes Touko to become curious of what Ichigaya thinks about her older sister.
When she sends him off, Touko asks how her older sister is like. Ichigaya mentions how lazy Mio was and how she pushes work on the student council. She also had them do her summer homework for her since she forgot. Afterwards, he said that he can’t imagine Mio as being perfect. He also mentions that Touko is not very similar to Mio at all despite being sisters. Afterwards, Touko seems upset with new revelations about her older sister she is trying to become.
It’s quite amazing that while Koyomi came up with three possible endings. Obviously, she chooses to have the main character become the girlfriend’s version of herself. I guess this is satisfactory ending for the audience. It’s understandable how Koyomi feels about this. I guess the other endings won’t give much satisfaction to the audience compared to this. With that in mind, this should give Sayaka some hope to win Touko’s heart.
While some expected Touko to do something intimate with Yuu and Yuu doing the same, they restrained themselves. Even Sayaka wanted to show some affection to her crush, but afraid to do so. This is very apparent when she was afraid to go into the bath. She felt too embarrassed. It gets even funnier when they start making a big deal of taking cute pictures of each other. Yes, this is bound to happen given how good Sayaka looks while wearing glasses. Thankfully, they restrained themselves before they do something that can ruin their friendships.
Besides Yuu, Sayaka and Touko resisting the temptation, it seems that Ichigaya spilt the beans. This happens when he complimented Touko’s work ethics. This is not too surprising since he knows Touko personally from working with her older sister. This causes Touko to become worried. It’s not until he revealed to Touko that Mio is actually lazy and unreliable that she becomes devastated.
To me, this doesn’t come at a surprise since Ichigaya actually worked with Mio and knew her true personality. While Touko knows her older sister well, Mio’s cool personality was just a façade to her true personality. In reality, Mio was a slacker at heart. This is complete opposite of what Touko is trying to be with being the model student.
It’s understandable why Touko becomes upset. She thought her older sister was perfect when in reality, she wasn’t. What Ichigaya said completely contradicts Touko’s view of her older sister. Now, Touko is becoming a different person than what she envisioned. With that, she now believes that she wasted her years of planning becoming like her. Even so, Sayaka seems to know what happened. She promises that she will always be there to support her. Still, I have a feeling that Yuu overheard their conversation and will eventually ask Touko about it.
While Touko failed to become like her older sister, in a way are similar in one aspect. Both Mio and Touko hid their true selves. Mio just like Touko acted differently in front of her little sister. When she is with the student council, she revert to her usual lazy self. The only difference is that only Sakaya, Yuu and possibly those close to Mio know Touko’s true personality. I guess in a way, Touko is following the footsteps of her older sister, but in an unexpected way.
Poor Touko’s years of planning seemed to have gone down in smoke but I think she’s still on the right path in a strange way. Both sisters hid their true selves from most people. Also this character arc reminded me of a certain half-robot.
The bath scene was GLORIOUS!
It’s bound to happen since Touko didn’t know how Mio actually behaved at school compared to at home. Still, it’s surprising that Mio and Touko hid their true selves in a way. Maybe, Touko can start being herself now that she realized her plan didn’t work.
Yes, the bath scene is great.
I’m not sure about that but we’ll see what she does.
Indeed.
