Now that Special and Suzuka regains their purpose to run again, Trainer aims big and wants to win the Dream Cup. However, he decides to have his team take a break. You know what this means, right?
In a recent race, Special placed in 7th place despite all the training she did. The Trainer knew that she is doing too much. With that, he decides to have the girls take a break. Special goes back to her hometown where she spends time with her foster mother. Her mother does not allow her to run. Eventually, she shared a book of news clippings that contain Special Week and eventually presents a special hoof when she takes her to the hill.
Meanwhile, the other members did their thing and eventually win all their races. The trainer eventually informs Suzuka about the comeback race. She keeps it a secret and eventually tells Special. It’s apparently a day before the Japan Cup race. Special eventually returns and does more training before her Tennoushourace.
On the day of the race, Special participates in the race. However, Suzuka isn’t there to cheer her on since she wants to be Special’s rival. Either way, Special manages to obtain the lead towards the end, thus defeating her rivals, especially Seiun Sky and King Halo. She also manages to break a record.
I have to admit that it’s nice to see Special take a breather given that a lot have happened. I guess that after the Trainer notices that training after a certain point won’t help Special. Still, it’s nice to see Special visit her mother in Hokkaido since it’s been a long time since she last saw her foster mom. I have to admit it’s funny to see her mother not allow Special run by trying her up in a rope. She probably wants to do this to deter Special from running when she is told not to.
As expected, there is a nice moment with Special’s mom. She eventually shows the newspaper clipping, letters and the poster she held up when Special left. Seeing them hang out on a hill on a clear night while she presents Special a gift is very heartwarming. The box contains a hoof that have “Be the best in Japan” engraved on it. It’s obvious that she wants Special to succeed. Still, it’s nice to hear that Special is happy to have two moms which makes her foster mom happy.
Aside from that, we also see other girls get some screen time as well. It’s funny seeing Daiwa Scarlet act coldly towards Vodka while they look at shoes. Also, Teio as always wanting to get the president’s attention and show her own the song she made. Lastly, McQueen spends time with her sisters. I didn’t know she have a second sister named Mejiro Dober. Apparently, she knows that McQueen have a thing for Gold Ship from seeing her fight over sweets with Gold Ship. I guess McQueen can’t deny it now.
As for the race, it’s surprising that Suzuka decided not to attend. It is interesting to see that Suzuka sees Special as her rival. Either way, it’s interesting to see Special run in the race while Suzuka runs on the school field at the same time. It gives Special the push to win the race, especially given her rivals that defeated her in previous races. Still, this is a good thing for Special as it keeps her focused in winning the race.
To me, I am happy to see Special finally win another race after losing so many times. I am not alone since her mother looked proud too. Hopefully Special will continue her comeback as her team aims for the Dream Cup.
So many lesbian pinky swears this week. It’s wonderful.
Great seeing Special Mama again along with a mention of Horsie Mama.
The other couples (Except Best Couple. No biggie) got some sweet time together.
Tennoushou 2 was yet another great race.
Hoping the show ends with Special and Suzuka’s date with destiny.
It’s nice to see Special make a promise with Suzuka as always. Yes, Special’s visit to her foster mom is glorious.
But I agree that the race is great and it’s nice to see Special finally win after losing so many times.
