At last, we learn the reason Hana didn’t start high school until a year later as sport tests begin.
At last, we learn the reason why Hana started high school late. Apparently, she had the mumps, a contagious virus which causes the cheeks to swell. Since it’s contagious, she has no choice to miss the entrance exams. As a result, she missed the timeframe to take entrance exams. In other words, she had to wait until next year.
It’s understandable why she becomes upset. Being held back a year can be very embarrassing, especially when your friends goes on without you. Thankfully, her mother calms her down by giving her a fresh start. Aside from cutting her hair to a bobbed hair-style, she moved to her cousin’s place to attend a different school. That way, nobody will know that she was held back, unless she actually tells them.
Aside from talking about names, there are some cute moments before the sports test. In particular, Tama hugs Hana while saying that she is a good girl. Maybe Tama and Hana will make a good pairing just like Eiko and Kamuri.
Also, it seems that Hana had something embarrassing in her lunch. There is a heart-shaped cracker with a heart drawn inside of it. It makes it seem that Shion have a big crush on Hana, which is not the case. Also, it’s nice to see Kamuri take out the biggest lunch possible. Despite having a bottomless stomach, she couldn’t finish it after lunch break is over.
The day before sports tests, the girls talked about their physical education scores. While all the girls say that they receive a B in physical education, this may not be true for Hana. I have to admit, it’s easy to feel sympathize with Hana as she struggles to complete all the events. The girls eventually notice that Hana’s athletic abilities are lacking. I find it funny how Hana almost spilt the beans by saying that she didn’t exercise since middle school graduation. Thankfully, her friends interpreted it as only a month rather than a whole year. Still, I have to admit that I am very bad at sports and become exhausted after doing a mile run.
On the other hand, Kamuri definitely impressed everyone with her running. Kamuri’s running caught the track team’s attention. Of course, a girl tried to scout her and Kamuri didn’t know how to react. Thankfully, Eiko came in time to protect her. Her reaction is bound to happen due to her shy personality.
Eventually, the girls took a break after some more sport tests. Hana seems to have clamps and want a cold compress. Instead, the girls find an ice cream machine and Tama gives her a banana kiwi mint chocolate Hawaiian ice cream. I find it funny how she actually believes that eating banana and kiwi can solve a cramp. Sadly, Hana finds it disgusting after tasting it. Kiyose, a teacher finds out the girls found the ice cream vending machine and picks the same favor Tama did. This makes me wonder if she is experiencing cramps as well.
The next day, I find it funny how Hana could barely walk when she goes to her usual place where she has lunch. This time, Shion made broken hearts in Hana’s lunch. It makes it seem like Hana broke up with Shion, when it’s not the case. Aside from that, it’s yet another enjoyable episode.
For some who thought Slow Start’s premiere was…a slow start, this immediately brought back their faith in all things good about our planet.
Eiko’s a wonderful “hunter”, Tomato X Hana is still going strong, Kamuri wants Eiko BAD and Cousin Shion remains best girl.
It took a while, but I have to admit the show is becoming more enjoyable with each episode.
But yes, there a lot of cute moments, but of course it seems that the Tama and Hana is definitely strong in this episode along with Kamuri and Eiko.
