Sakura Quest – Episode 16 – Mystery at the Sakura Pond’s Bottom

July 20, 2017 by Chikorita157 Leave a Comment
Believe it or not, Kadota and Chitose formed a band with each other and Doku.

At last, we finally learn why Kadota and Chitose don’t get along.

As expected, Kadota wanted to hide something from everyone.

From last time, Kadota escapes from the hospital to get a certain item from the lake. In the process, he crashes the car trying to get an object out. It becomes obvious why he is seeking for a certain object during the lake. When Doku reveals that he was in a band playing the drums with Kadota (guitar) and Chitose (bass), this surprises the girls.

From the flashbacks, Chitose actually wanted to leave Manoyama.

If you recall last episode, Chitose never thought about leaving Manoyama. Right before she graduated high school, she wanted to go to Tokyo with Kadota and Doku. She wanted to go to Japan to jumpstart her music career and of course put the band in the map. It’s not surprising since Doku going to college in Tokyo as well. Given that her parents don’t want to go, she planned on running away during the festival. It’s obvious that she doesn’t want to run her parent’s shop.

As expected, Kadota never changed since this incident.

Given Kadota’s personality, he changed his mind. He realizes that going to Tokyo means running away from Manoyama. In short, he wants to bring Doku and Chitose back to reality. This is why he took a boat and went crazy on the shrine float. This caused the festival staff to become angry at himsince the float eventually sunk into the lake. As a result, the town cancelled future festivals permanently.

Given that Kadota ruined Chitose’s chance of going to Tokyo, this can explain why she feels bitter towards him. He ruined her dream because he didn’t want to go. It’s quite obvious that he wants to stay in Manoyama or afraid of going to Tokyo. Either way, there is no wonder Chitose is on bad terms with Kadota for ruining her dream.

In the end, the lake finally dried up and the girls didn’t find the guitar that Kadota dropped into the lake 53 years ago. The temple of course is not in tact anymore. Thankfully, it gives the girls the idea to revive the festival. Of course, they need to find the treasures to make it work. This will be the hard part since nobody have any idea where they are.

At long last, Ririko finally smiles.

As for Chitose, it seems that she wants Ririko to do whatever she desires. It’s not surprising given that she missed out the opportunity to go to Tokyo and feel bitter about it.  It’s not surprising since Lucia showed a translated message saying she wants to travel around the world with Ririko. Someday, maybe Ririko will consider leaving Manoyama to experience the outside world she missing out on.
