The founding festival has finally arrived. Will it be a success or will it flop? Judging from the title of this post, the results are what you would expect.
From last time, Yoshino with Maki and Sanae went to the people who are camping there. Apparently, there is not a lot of lodging and the tourists are camping just to get souvenirs from the concert. From this, it gives the girls a false sense that things will go well. Sure, a lot of people will visit the stalls and attending the events, but something is off.
When it comes to the trivia event, problems start to arise. While the people who are responsible for the concert had problems, they started late. When it comes to the trivia event, people started to leave after hearing news about the concert. After the concert is over, the tourists don’t bother visit the town. In short, the coupons didn’t get much use at all. Yoshino notices this when she saw a lot in the garbage. She started to realize it immediately the next day with the town deserted.
From the looks of it, it seems that the host of the show sabotage Yoshino by setting her up to fail. The way they presented Manoyama on the program convinced people not to visit the town. It’s not necessarily Yoshino’s fault, but rather the travel agency.
The problem is that the travel agency wants instant gratification, which is sadly what most millennials expect these days. The travel agency really thinks that the festival, the TV program and the band would bring people back to the town. Marketing does not work like this in real life. They need to keep working at it and change what doesn’t work. Eventually, they will become successful. Perseverance is key.
One thing to note, reviving a town through marketing does not bring immediate results. It takes cumulative effort to spread the word about the town. If people don’t think the town is interesting enough, they are not going to come. Yoshino is right that nothing has changed in the town in the past 6 months and the agency is simply doing a disservice.
With that in mind, how do you fix it? Given that Yoshino is so disheartened by the results of her work on reviving Manoyama for 6 months that she decides to leave town. Will Yoshino resign her position as Queen or go soul-searching to find the answer to revive Manoyama? Giving up is probably not the solution as it will never solve anything. Whatever path she takes, we’ll find out in the second half of the show.
