In the end, Akeno couldn’t save her friend, which caused her to question herself whether or not she is qualified to be captain.
As expected, it seems that Akeno was unable to save her best friend, Moeka after her skipper ran into a rock. Thankfully, Akeno was able to recover it and return to the ship. Even so, she felt down for most of the episode considering that she was reminded of Mashiro’s words for abandoning her shipmates to save her best friend.
It’s understandable that she wants to save her best friend, but she shouldn’t really abandon her shipmates to do it since it would be selfish. Still, I think Moeka is capable of protecting her crew despite the issues they are facing. Wilhelmina believes that this is the case after talking about her captain. She assured Akeno that she is a good captain for being rescued by her. In other words, there will always be another chance or way to save Moeka. For the time being, Akeno should focus on protecting and leading her shipmates before doing that.
Although Akeno was not able to rescue her best friend, it seems that there is a breakthrough that might save all the ships. There is a girl that discovered a weak signal that is disrupting the signal and long behold, it’s one of those evil rats. Apparently, Minami knows about these rats since it’s not just any rat, they are capable of disrupting electronic signals and cause people to go berserk from examining the virus from Shima’s blood. Yep, this is a discovery that will save all the ships that are becoming violent or lost contact, thus giving Akeno a chance to possibly save Moeka. Of course, this wouldn’t have happened without Isoroku chasing after it to catch it to Mashiro’s dismay.
Aside from that, it seems that the Harekaze is going through some minefields, which can be devastating if they hit a mine. It seems that Akeno came up with the idea of doing minesweeping with skippers since they won’t activate them due to it being lightweight and fast. In short, it worked for the most part, except that one of the girls accidentally ran into one. Thankfully, she had a safety device on, so she didn’t get injured. Although Mashiro got upset over Akeno abandoning the bridge once again, at least she was rescuing her crewmates. It’s justifiable since they are like her family after all.
Aside from that, I find it funny that Wilhelmina doesn’t seem to be fond of Japanese food. In short, Mikan decides to make German food and after she finished cooking it, it seems that Wilhelmina doesn’t seem impressed by the imitations that Mikan made compared to the ones made by the Kinesaki twins. Mikan shouldn’t have boasted that she could cook German food since it’s obvious that she is poor at it. Aside from that, it seems that Minami has discovered a vaccine to protect against the virus from those mutated rats. Will it work? We’ll find out next time.
