It seems that Kurumi wants to help Mai out, but it seems that she lacks self-confidence. I wonder what is bothering her.
I have to admit that this was a pretty strange episode. It seems that Kurumi fell into her own world along with Haruhiko and Ruru, which is essentially her mind. Yep, the world is pretty trippy since it looks like something that came from a fairy tale. Not to mention, it appears that Kurumi is a princess of some kingdom populated by bears that is under evasion of Prince Salmon in this world.
While the story Albrecht told is silly on it’s own right, it seems that the world is based on Kurumi’s mind. The bears are obvious since she seems to be fond of them, aside from Albrecht which she caries as a security blanket. Not only that, the nemesis happens to be named after salmon, which she dislikes.
Given Kurumi’s past, it seems that she lacks self-confidence. She afraid that she would be turned away by the girls or be forgotten. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case since she asks the girls if she can play together and they said yes. It seems that she simply lacks confidence given her anxiety she is facing over helping Mai in the future. Maybe she feels this way because she is the youngest person that is helping them out aside from relying on Albrecht. Even so, I don’t think this should be an issue since she is very capable judging from her performance.
To me, it seems that she is over reliant on Albrecht rather than confronting her problems on her own. In the end, I’m glad that she decided to face the thing that was bothering her, which is represented by Prince Salmon and use the special power of the rake to transform into a magical girl and defeat him. The rake signifies the courage she uses to break through her anxiety.
While this episode is strange in its own right, It’s a simple solution to an understandable problem. Kurumi just need to gain the courage and step forward rather than be nervous. Given that Mai and Reina was impressed by her abilities last time, there is nothing she needs to be afraid of. With her problems resolved, I wonder what will happen next now that the Mai’s Phantom hunting team is now fully assembled. We’ll find out soon enough.
All that is left now is Haruhiko’s story. Don’t feel like it’s gonna be soon, but probably around the time that mysterious portable computer is fixed.
From the looks of it, I don’t see it coming until towards the end, but I wonder if he will prove that she is useful for once besides being a big information database that is bad at phantom hunting.
