Suimitsutou is clearly angry that her older sister got arrested. Since she is in a big mecha, will Aria and Akari be able to defeat her?
From the looks of it, it seems that Suimitsutou is one of those people who don’t know how to use a mecha properly, but more excited about using all the powerful weapons it has to offer. There is no wonder why she couldn’t use it effectively against Akari and Aria, especially when she is angry that her little sister was arrested.
Thankfully, Akari and Aria did a good job trapping Suimitsutou with the help of their friends. Even so, I can’t help to think that the battle felt rushed considering how easily they beat her. Thankfully, Akari managed to save her sister thanks to Kyochikutou taking the plea deal.
On the other hand, it seems that Aria wants to leave since she believes that Akari will be in danger. Akari defies this by asking for another challenge to get her gun back, but this time, she won’t hold herself back. Thankfully, Akari managed to get her gun back, she got defeated.
Despite that, she still won, thus Akari officially becomes Aria’s Amica at last. Still, it was amusing to see that Urara ordered a fancy dinner and Akari happens to turn it down to do something else with Aria again. In short, she had the dinner with Shino instead. This makes me wonder if they are better off giving up on Akari and just become a couple together since they have some things in common. Still, I highly doubt it will happen as they already vowed to fight to the bitter end. Considering how oblivious Akari is, it’s their loss.
Final Thoughts
I have to admit that while I enjoyed the cast a bit more than the main anime along with the light-hearted moments, it does not quite live up to the main series in term of action. I felt that the operations in this show lacks excitement, which is very evident with the 5th episode considering how many exciting operations and fights there were in the main show. Maybe this is because the studio only had 12 episodes to cover some of the source material. It’s just my guess.
While this show could have been a bit better action-wise considering that the main series has some great fighting scenes, it was still enjoyable to watch nonetheless. As much I like Kugimiya Rie tsunderes, it’s somewhat a breath of fresh air to see the other side of Aria without being cold all the way towards the protagonist. Although I doubt there will be a second season, but if there is one, hopefully it will feature more exciting operations and fights with an all girl team kicking butt out of the criminals and of course, the I-U.
As underwhelming as the fourth quarter battle was, the cast’s greatness was more than enough for me to have greatly enjoyed the show. It’s average overall, yes, but again the girls were glorious.
If only the action lives up to the main series, this show will be more enjoyable. Still I agree that the cast was at least enjoyable.
Still not interested in picking up the main series.
