The 8th card is finally revealed and yes, it’s time for Illya to give Gil the justice he deserves for what he did to her in Unlimited Blade Works.
At last, the final boss has shown up and the 8th card happens to be Gilgamesh, who is part of the Archer class. While everyone knew that he would show up since he is one of the servants in Fate/stay night that survived the Grail War in Fate/zero, nobody knew that he would be a little kid. I have to admit that he is pretty cute in his child form, although he is still a jerk like he was in the main series.
This time, it seems that he is after Miyu, who is actually the Holy Grail in human form instead of being a mere vessel in the main series. There is no wonder he is after her, which comes at no surprise since Gil hasn’t changed that much. In other words, he is still after the Holy Grail and it’s up to Illya to give the justice he deserves for killing her in Unlimited Blade Works while saving Miyu.
I have to say it was pretty satisfying to see Illya borrow Sapphire to transform into her new form which enabled her to beat the crap out of Gil. Even Gil’s Ea was no match against the power of Illya’s most powerful attack. Of course, it came at a cost with Illya possibly ruining her magical circuits. Thankfully they were not damaged.
While it’s not as exciting and action packed as the last season’s fight, at least it was heartwarming to see Illya save Miyu while she cries. With that, it’s not over as Gil is still alive in the parallel world and of course, people from there are still after Miyu, thus leaving us with a cliffhanger for a 4th season.
Final Thoughts
In short, 2wei Herz in my opinion is simply not on the same level as the second season. Sure, this is to be expected since 2wei Herz continues where 2wei left off, which already cover most of the exciting stuff, but I can’t help but think that most of the episodes were basically fillers to give them enough material until Gil finally showed up at the end. Sure, some of the filler slice of life episodes were enjoyable, but at least there were some nice moments with Illya and Miyu/Kuro. In short, I guess I can’t complain too much.
Overall Rating: 8.4/10, B, Good

Justice for Illya indeed. If Miyu didn’t love Illya before (I only have eyes for Illya) she sure as heck does now. I’m sure Kuro will lose to Miyu in the end.
Overall not as good as 2wei but still enjoyable as you said. The unexpected highlight for me was episode 3…mainly because I and many others in the nation could relate to Mimi.
Yep, it seems that Illya now has a female harem, which makes me wonder who will win in the end… But aside from that, hopefully the next season will be better, which will probably happen next summer.
Yay for Illya and the worthy competitors for her heart.
