With the Grail War finally over, what path does Rin and Shirou take?
While it’s sad to see Saber go in the last episode, I have to admit that the epilogue is really good. Although it’s disappointing that piece of trash Shinji survives in this arc, I have to admit that there were a lot of cute moments with Shirou and Rin as they attend the Clock Tower academy after graduating high school. It’s strange to see Rin not wearing her hair in twintails for once while being kinder to Shirou. Aside from that, I have to admit that seeing them visit the grave of King Arthur/Saber is a nice touch.
Aside from that, it seems that while Shirou decides to live his dream and turn down the Mage Association invitation in order to become a hero of justice again with Waver asking why did he chose to do that, there are some nice moments besides with Rin. Luvia finally shows up, which is quite fitting for the fact that Prisma Illya 2wei Herz will air in a few weeks. As expected, Rin gets into a fight with her and apparently loses. Even so, it was enjoyable nonetheless.
Final Impressions
Although I only watched a few episodes of Studio Deen’s adaptation of the Fate arc, it’s apparent that Ufotable done a better job with their version of Unlimited Blade Works. Aside from the animation quality, everything looks so much better, including the action scenes, especially with Archer vs. Shirou and Shirou vs. Gil. While there are a few flaws here and there, I enjoyed this adaptation quite a lot. Sure, Shirou is somewhat annoying at times, but at least he gets better. Hopefully when Heaven’s Feel movie comes around, he can finally stop trying to become a Hero of Justice.
Overall Rating: 9.2/10, A-, Very Good
Of course they pick the last episode to feature the BEST CHARACTER IN THE FRANCHISE! Oh well. Honestly I saw the movie version and got what I needed from it. I don’t need to see an extended version with extras to get the gist of the UBW route.
In short, until Heaven’s Feel gets subbed I’ll see you when Illya 2 1/2 airs to discuss more Fate related stuff, which should be later next month.
Yep, she is a nice touch and I can’t wait to see her argue with Rin in the second part of 2wei. Aside from that, I’m looking forward to Heaven’s Feel when Shinji gets the punishment he deserves.
As they say, Prisma’s Illya is the best Illiya.
Exactly. Two seasons and a movie waiting to see Shinji get his and the fact that it may finally happen soon is already worth hyping this new movie.
Their craving for Shiro aside Rin vs Luvia is one of the show’s best segments.
Even though original series Illya is devilishly awesome in her own right I still prefer Prisma Illya.
Now we need to wait for Heaven’s feel to be release. I wonder if the quality will be even higher considering it’s a movie…
Yep, and it’s going to be great, hopefully considering that they will have a pretty big budget to show the Heaven’s Feel arc in two and a half hours. Can’t wait to see Shinji get the punishment he deserves.
Epilogue was really great. It’s like I was watching all those episodes just for this epilogue. Since I already watch the movie, there isn’t a lot of new content. Boy was I pleased that they add that new content at the end there.
I think the movie will most likely not focus too much on the earlier start with Shirou creating a contract with Saber and such since it’s mostly the same. I guess they will only focus very little on the common route and then jump into the Heaven’s Feel arc.
Absolutely loved the little brawl between Rin and Luvia. If Luvia won (which I think she did,) it would be all the more better. I wish we had gotten to see the entire battle, though.
Hopefully we’ll catch more of their fights in the future! 😀
I do agree that the fight is enjoyable, but of course Luvia doesn’t have a big role in Fate/stay night (and a minor character in hallow ataraxia). You should probably see Prisma Illya if you want to see more of her in action.
