After Fubuki managed to resolve everyone’s differences in her squadron from, it’s time for a change of pace. Now, the spotlight is on the four girls in the Akatsuki class as they decide to enter a curry-cooking contest.
Compared to the last episode, this episode feels lighthearted mostly because the Akatsuki class is made up of four young girls (Akatsuki herself and her other sisters named Hibiki, Ikazuchi and Inazuma). There is probably no wonder why Nagato seems to be worried about them and tries to encourage them not to give up, especially during the curry-cooking contest.
Still, I have to admit that the Akatsuki and her sisters looked adorable while they prepared for the contest to prove their worthiness as a lady. While it’s kind of funny to see them burn and melt a pot full of ingredients with a flamethrower while watching them fail an expedition to obtain a special ingredient, I kind I felt sorry for them when Akatsuki started fighting, especially after Inazuma took the blame the third time. I felt sorry for her even if it was her fault because she had to deal with Ikazuchi and Akatsuki arguing over the lead position. Thankfully, the fighting between the two sisters didn’t last long. If they dragged it out, I don’t think they would be able to win the contest.
In the end, the Akatsuki girls winning the contest did not surprise me at all given the amount of effort and teamwork they put into making the curry. Their win wouldn’t be possible without Yuubari giving them a golden pot, Mamiya sharing a potentially winning recipe and of course, the crowd cheering them on towards the bitter end. To see the four young girls win the contest despite being at a disadvantage was heartwarming. At least the four sisters got to experience what it’s like to be a lady.
As for the other teams, it was funny to see them knock themselves out of the contest. It consisted of Hiei putting something in the curry that causes her and Kongou to get knocked out. Of course, there is Akagi eating all the ingredients (which Fubuki obviously obsessed over) and Zuikaku ripping off Shoukaku’s skirt. Lastly, there is Shimakaze making instant curry because it’s fast and then eating it herself. While it’s funny to see her eat it quickly, it makes me wonder why did she enter the contest in the first place? I guess this is one of the many things about her we will never know.
It is not often you use your catchphrase twice in one of my episodics. It shows how much you enjoyed this episode and Team Akatsuki’s antics. Like Sexy Secretary Nagato you embraced the moe.
Shimakaze’s become an “I exist” character at this point, which isn’t a bad thing.
Yep, and I admit that it was enjoyable, but at least I’m glad that Shimakaze is getting some screentime after not having any in the last episode.
There it is again!
