Shinji finally does the unthinkable and unleashes Rider’s powers.
From a few episodes back, it’s already apparent that Shinji is up to no good in regards to what he did to Ayako (to me, he is a lot worse than Shirou). Considering that he is not a real mage and he got jealous over Rin rejecting his offer, I expected that he was going to bring up the barrier anyway and suck everyone’s mana since he is a big jerk. By doing so, he made it impossible for Shirou to get rid of Rider, which is such a dirty move but not surprising at the same time since he is annoyed that Shirou has Rin. As a result, Shirou had to overcome the barrier by using another command seal to summon Saber.
Surprisingly enough, Shinji chickened out when Rider tried to kill him. Basically, Saber defeated Rider and it’s quite obvious that Caster used Rider as a pawn. Still, you can’t rule Shinji out since he still have command seals, meaning that he can always get another servant.
Judging from the skeleton familiars and Caster appearing for a split second, it makes me wonder if Archer was right not to kill her off in the last episode. I supposed that he wanted to find out who is her master before doing so, something that Shirou disagreed with since he wanted to stop her immediately. One thing that certain she will most likely be the boss for the first half of the series.
While I was disappointed that Shinji didn’t receive the beating that he deserves, it looks like Caster is back in the picture and she has a deep interest in Saber. Still, I wonder what is Caster’s true intentions are considering that she is crazy (perhaps not as crazy as the one in Fate/zero, but still).
