With the Shadow Hollow making it’s appearence, is Mirai the one that doesn’t fully understand Akihito? Probably.
Continuing from last time, it seems that Sakura on her plot of trying to kill Mirai for revenge has failed. Even so, I admit that the labyrinth setting with the number of stair cases and flying subway trains reminds me of a lot of Madoka Magica. Also, the Shadow Hallow taking Yui’s appearance and choking Mirai also brought some tension, but she didn’t fall for it. However, I find it very surprising how she easily takes it down in Akihito’s body even if it wasn’t the final boss. That appears to be Akihito himself with his other side gaining control.
Disregarding how powerful Akihito’s shade form is, the battle to subdue him reveals one thing that Mirai doesn’t understand. While her ability to control blood makes her unable to live life as a normal person, she doesn’t know that Akihito is not normal either. Sure she can stab him as many times she want even if he still looks like a human. However, it doesn’t deny the fact that he is different. I think is alternate form showed that when the other spirit hunters couldn’t stop him, possibly causing the city’s destruction. Pretty much the only thing that subdues him at the end is of course Mirai embracing him. Hopefully from witnessing this, I think Mirai will stop acting that she is the biggest threat to society and drive everyone away when she knows what Akihito’s shade form is capable of. Not only that, she is the only girl who can subdue his shade form. From this, it makes me wonder if she will develop romantic feelings for him.
I’m happy that the show is finally getting interesting now that the other side of Akihito is now revealed. Besides the fact that someone swapped the rock of the Shadow Hallow, I still wonder about Sakura since nobody knows who she is. Perhaps she is an original character that will only appear in these two episodes? I guess time will tell as everything returns to normal.
