While the last card remains at large, it seems that Illya doesn’t want to fight any longer.
Ever since the lock has broken inside of Illya, I think the situation for her got even worse. From the last episode, she experienced a near-death situation when Assassin poisoned her and she let out her mana in an explosive manner. I felt bad for her for the fact that she enjoys the idea of being a magical girl, but not when she has to fight in dangerous situations. Because of this, I could understand why she wants to resign. However, considering that she broken the lock and used the Archer card, I have a bad feeling that a certain someone in that card won’t like that idea of Illya living a normal life and will show up. I doubt she will appear in this season, but who knows?
On the other hand, I’m still curious of Miyu not because she is giving the cold shoulder to Illya, but rather how she encountered Sapphire. It seems that she has been forced into this too and is willing to do it all by herself. Even so, I think there is a flaw to that plan. While some servants were easy to defeat, considering that there is only one left, it may as well be the hardest one. Because of this, I doubt Miyu can handle this on her own, thus face a near death situation. Because of this, Its only logical that Illya have to help and save her.
As a whole, I had mixed feelings about this episode as it had a mix of comedy such as the crazy superhero storytelling of Momotaro from one of her classmates and Leysritt making fun of Sella’s flat chest, it felt melancholic. While Shirou shows up once again to witness Sella and Leysritt fighting over bust sizes, it looks like Irisviel is making a comeback to cheer her daughter up. Hopefully with that, will she regain a purpose to fight again? We’ll see as we approach the big finale.
