At last, Vert gets some time in the spotlight as Neptune and company gets invited to Leanbox for a live concert and a party.
While Vert clearly resembles a stereotypical American girl as Microsoft created the Xbox 360, we finally get to see what she does on her free time. Apparently, she spends her time playing games in front of her computer, playing MMORPGs like Four Goddesses Online. She even skips the concert to finish a battle in a game. Even so, I never expect her to be that much of a gamer considering her appearance. She is a hard-core gamer not just looking her game collection, but she also has a more advanced version of Kinect that can turn people into holograms of other stuff. Take that Xbox One and the Kinect 2!
Aside from that, the second half takes a more dramatic turn. While it’s clear that the piracy lady named Magiquone wants to get rid of these goddesses for some reason, I just find it funny how all four goddesses managed to fell into her trap by fighting those monsters! She basically sets up an enclosure created by the Anti-Crystal, which made the goddess’s powers useless. With Nepgear coming with IF to save her older sister, it’s obvious that she has some hidden power we don’t know about.
Despite the serious buildup at the end, all the main goddesses are introduced. It’s kind of interesting that all their hobbies are a part of Otaku subculture such as Noire’s cosplaying, Blanc’s making doujins and Vert being a hard core gamer. So, what does Neptune do on her free time then? Sleep all day long? Still, 5pb live concert somewhat reminds me of AKB0048, but without any fighting.
“So, what does Neptune do on her free time then? Sleep all day long?”
She eats, sleeps and plays games basically, as shown in the first episode.
Of course I forgot about that, but this pretty makes her a lazier version of Vert.
The difference is that usually Vert does her work when needed, Neptune generally never.
I think much would depend on whether Nepgear successfully escapes this situation too. Because, this scene is based on Neptunia MK II’s intro, where all four goddess and Nepgear ended up getting imprisoned for three years. But, in the anime, the intro is only the worst case scenario, and the set-up is very different from Mk II. So, I am betting on Nepgear escaping, and working with the rest of the CPU Candidates to free their sisters.
While I haven’t played any of the games besides the idol spinoff, I highly doubt they will have the goddesses imprisoned for 3 years as there won’t be anything left to cover. I think Nepgear will find some say to save them in the next episode.
On Japanese forums a list of episodes up to the 8th (taken from a magazine) circulated for a bit now. I’ve seen it and while I can’t make most of it since the image is small (making it difficult to read), it looks like the current arcs will last about two episodes or so.
Now we just need to find a way to save them. They clearly said it was an original production so can’t be following any of the games of this series. 😛
Hopefully we’ll see something good happening in the next episode… and kick the butt out of piracy.
My love for Vert is eternal, though the console she represents still does not interest me. I eagerly anticipate further 5pb involvement in the future.
Although she looks pretty, I don’t own a Xbox either since the games lineup doesn’t appeal to me.
