From the look of it, this show is becoming more like Cardcaptor Sakura and Nanoha.
After the big surprise Ruby pulled in the last episode, I’m shocked that Illya still feels indecisive about being a magical girl. Inside her mind, she wants to be a magical girl but yet, she feels embarrassed about it. Either way, this show feels like the shows I mentioned because Illya and Miyu are basically fighting servants in an alternate reality just to capture them in class cards. Not only that, Illya is able to shoot projectiles out of her wand just like Nanoha! Either way, I think Illya did a pretty good job at landing attacks on Rider even though she almost got hurt. Hopefully in future battles, she will get more experienced at combat so she can take these servants down quickly.
With that, I wonder who is this Miyu girl. She is awfully experienced and manages to prevent Rider from using her strongest attack. I highly doubt she will be a dark magical girl, but will there be a rivalry of some sort? This is a good possibility since she is probably working for Luviagelita. With Miyu transferring into the same school Illya, I wonder how she will get along with her. Also, what abilities does she have? Not only that, why Rin didn’t give Illya the Archer card for her to use in her first battle? That and more will lie in the next episode.
Yeah, but it’s slightly more like Nanoha than Cardcaptor Sakura. Miyu is going to be an interesting character, even if I doubt they’ll explore her in detail in these few episodes…
Probably because the attacks resemble Nanoha more than Cardcaptor Sakura… but hopefully, they will have a nice buildup for Miyu, although her transferring into the school is rather cliched.
Best parts of the episode:
1: Ilya momentarily questioning of her existence after getting her hopes shattered by the “love letter”.
2: Ilya slowly going to the shed to transform and coming back. A work of comedic brilliance, these two scenes were.
Oh…and the fight against Clow Card Rider was good too.
