Kou can’t stop obsessing over those muscles.
So far, I feel that the swimming team is finally getting things off the ground. While Nagisa still gives me mixed feelings, the most interesting aspect of this episode is how Rei changes his opinions towards swimming. He seems that he focus on his craft even though the calculations for his jump are silly.
While I can understand why he didn’t want to swim since he doesn’t know how, I think the reason why he wanted to join is to find the balance between theory and execution. Haruka has this in him because he is a natural swimmer. Because of that, it basically convinced Rei to join the swim team after he failed at pole-jumping by felling like a rock. This makes me wonder how he will address his lack of swimming skills. I suppose the other boys on the team will help him not only to achieve his goals, but also teach him how to swim to the level where they can win a tournament.
With Rei finally on the swim team, I like how this show is going thus far. Kou proved that she is a reliable manager by finding a solution where they can swim indoor in their current situation. Still, her obsession with muscles is hilarious and it makes me wonder what guy she will pick as her boyfriend since she literally has a harem of hot guys. Even so, I would like to see her swim once in a while even though it’s obvious that she won’t participate in the tournament. Even with this positive development, it seems that some people still think that the boys are still girly. To me, Nagisa is still somewhat girly to me, but as for the other boys, they are manly enough since they are swimming enthusiasts. But eventually, I think they need too add more substance in the later episodes.
Kou is the representation of every anime fangirl in existence, jumping for joy over the fact that FINALLY, their time had come! After decades of torture, their time had come.
Anyhoo, Rei’s an awesome character who fits perfectly with the rest of Michael Phelps’ apprentices. I also wonder who is manlier, Kimi to Boku’s Shun or Nagisa? A most interesting question I asked myself and one which I am vigorously seeking an answer to.
I never watched Kimi to Boku, so I don’t know… But still, I’m enjoying Kou’s character.
