The plot advances as we finally found out who actually won the race in the last episode.
This time, we finally see some signs of the plot progressing with Haruka losing to Rin and the three boys wanting to create a swimming club in order to bring Rin to his former self. Although Nagisa is still somewhat annoying, there were a few interesting parts of this episode: what happened in the past and Ama/Kou.
First, the old swimming club finally gets torn down and the coach finally revealed the reason why Rin felt bad during middle school. He apparently got beaten by Haruka, whom given up swimming competitively. I can understand why this would upset him as Haruka essentially wasted all his natural abilities while Rin tries hard at a swimming academy and fails. This can also explain why Kou wants to become a manager of the swimming club so that her older brother can return to his old self too.
While I still have some lingering feelings about the show, I’m still enjoying it. Besides the main characters becoming excited about having the swimming club up and running, the two and only females, Ama and Kou finally get some screen time. It’s not because Kou gets own version of Duck and Rabbit Season, I just liked how she genuinely cares about her brother and want him to reunite with his friends. As for Ama, her past is rather fascinating considering that she used to work as a swimsuit designer. This means that she modeled at one time and nobody knew about it? Probably someday, someone will pull up some photos of her in a swimsuit so we can see how she looked.
Aside from that, it seems that we have another swimmer joining next time out of the blue. We’ll find out next time.
