The despair settles in for Ledo as Pinion becomes a bit too cocky.
While the sea of dead squidwhales is a very depressing and disgusting site, I’m surprised that Chamber hasn’t turned against Ledo yet. It seems that he is still attempting to brainwash him by using the notion that squidwhales rejects civilization. Chamber argues that they evolved into creatures that can withstand anything so that they don’t need knowledge while admitting that humans are weak without support from machines. While I can understand his position, it doesn’t make it right to kill squidwhales if they aren’t harming anyone. It seems that Ledo changed his mind and wants to stop exterminating them and live in harmony. However, that is unlikely as long Chamber is willing to carry out squidwhale genocide in the name of protecting humanity.
On the other hand, I grown increasingly annoyed at Pinion. He has become a very arrogant person because he salvaged with all this technology. Now, he got the people to support for his cause to attack everyone in his way to protect his goodies. From the look of it, it’s just going to end badly, especially for those who are against Pinion’s outrageous plan. To make matters worse, he also decides to attack pirates with his new weapons until they surrender and join him. Because of his actions, I feel sorry to the people who have to deal with his extreme strategy, especially for Melty as there is a good possibility of not reuniting with Amy and Saaya.
While things look bleak for Ledo as he is unwilling to kill any more squidwhales, we have a new threat. It seems that Kugel is still alive, but now created a cult worse than the Galactic Alliance. It makes me wonder if this encounter will cause Ledo to fight against his commanding officer. From the look of it, while it’s clear that Ledo will survive as he returns to Gargantia in the ending theme, I’m not too sure about Chamber, especially if he suffers major damage in the upcoming conflict. We’ll see what happens next time.
