Anime Weekly – Episode 2 – Free!, Shiny Festa, Site Updates, Photo Kano 4, Gargantia 4

Welcome to the second episode of Anime. In today’s episode, I’m going to share some impressions about Free, which is Kyoto’s Animation’s new show along with the release of Shiny Festa. Also, I’m going to share some site news for the upcoming months, episode impressions and the Anime Power Rankings for last week.

News

Free – I’m surprised by this show since Kyoto Animation has been doing slice of life with cute girls for a long time. Now, they are doing a show focusing on the dramas of swimming with handsome guys. I’m not sure I’m going to blog this, but I will definitely give it a try once it starts airing.

Shiny Festa – Last Monday, Namco has finally localized an Idolmaster Game, but it’s not the main game! Shiny Festa is basically a simple rhythm game where you hit the corresponding side when the note reaches the middle. If you want to see how the game plays before buying, just read my review on my blog.

Although I paid a lot for the downloadable version for my Playstation Vita, I think it’s overpriced for a mobile game. Each game costs about $53. I know there is a race to the bottom when it comes to mobile games, but from the fan’s impression, they censored the swimsuits in the game for some reason. How is that offensive? Also, the translation is pretty questionable as they spelled hobbies as hoobies. How can you make a stupid mistake like that?  While I like the games from the series, especially the Playstation 3 game, this is not acceptable. But if you still want to play this game, I suggest getting a PSP and a Japanese Playstation Network account, buy some currency and download it since the Yen is getting weak.

Next, this is what will be happening in the next few months. First, Meruru Let’s Play will resume mid May. The reason I stopped publishing video is because I got a bit busy. Once I’m done with everything, I will start editing the recordings I have.

Also, in the last week of June until the end of 4th July weekend, I will be on vacation in Wisconsin. During that time, I will do a vacation marathon where I watch all the episodes on my computer and then write a full review in place of episodic reviews. I will reveal more details in mid June.

Gargantia – 4

Overall, I liked this episode as it showed the difference between Gargantia and the Alliance. I felt that the Alliance is a really unpleasant place as they kill off the weak and don’t operate like a family. Basically, they train themselves to become fighting machines to kill off aliens, which probably not harming anyone unless provoked. While there is a lack of control in Garantia, at least the people feel heuman. As seen with Amy’s younger brother, she cares for him even though he is weak. I see this feeling with Ledo when his younger brother that he get along get sent away because he is undesirable. I think the time on Earth will eventually change his views as he begins to reject the ideals of the alliance.

Here are the Power Rankings. While I never received a ballot thanks to my crappy email, I’m going to share it anyways. I felt that Red Data Girl improved a bit with it’s first episode while Ore no Imouto 2 kind of disappointed me because Ria was really annoying. I might not blog about it and replace it with Gargantia.
