Oh my, what happened to Houtarou?
It’s predictable that Eru is starting to have a noticeable impact on Houtarou. Throughout the series, he started to shred his energy-saving habits. It’s apparent when Satoshi mentions about the connection between lighting and mushrooms while a helicopter passed by to spark some inspiration. When Houtarou said Eru’s famous catch phase, it makes me wonder if he caught Eru’s curiosity disease. He must have or his fascination about his junior high teacher regarding the helicopter wouldn’t have activated.
As for the mystery in question, it was relatively simple. Apparently, the teacher got hit by lightning in three different instances, but didn’t die from it. He focused his attention on the helicopters three years ago since he used to climb mountains and his friends are up there. The article backed up his reactions to the accident, which his friends did not survive because of a storm. However, I felt that this mystery in question wasn’t all that important since it got solved relatively quickly. It was there for some character development between Eru and Houtarou.
Since the first episode, it’s fascinating to see how Houtarou changed throughout the course of the season. He is a brilliant mystery solver, but at the same time, doesn’t want to use his energy. As time went on, Eru’s fascination in things have put an impact on him. With him now admitting that he is curious, it possibly shows that he also has some romantic feelings for Eru. Besides Eru asking him to ride together on a bike, how they interacted when they tried to find out what happen during that day felt rather interesting. Does this mean that she might confess her feelings pretty soon? Perhaps, given what has happen thus far.
As a whole, three episodes remain in this season and I wonder how they will wrap everything up. Will the two finally get together? What final mystery lies for the group? I think the next three episodes will address these two questions as we see the final part of the story.
Last three episodes…I really wonder what kind of mystery can they fit in this short timeline. Especially considering how Eru and Houtarou’s relationship need to grow together with it…
I wonder too since good mysteries need some time to build up. Still, I suppose that there will be some kind of romance between the two in the finale… or maybe not.
