It seems that the “unleashing of desires” is not making things any better.
From the look of things, I think having one’s desires unleash at unpredictable times is several times worse than body swapping. With body swapping, you can control yourself from doing stupid things, although there is a huge possibility it will happen. Still, both are bad no matter how you look at it since Heartseed can make someone do something that will take their life away. I think it’s bound to happen if someone gains a desire to commit suicide in a similar fashion to how Iori jumped off a bridge. Either way you look at it, the Culture Club is at a big loss.
Underneath this madness, I think Inaba has a point even though she unintentionally had an outburst towards Yui. I think she got mad for the fact that Yui feels scared about what might happen with her beating up men that she doesn’t want to leave her room until it’s over. It goes to say: “if you live in fear, the terrorists have already won.” I felt that this phrase and what Inaba says to Yui are very similar. If they isolates themselves from each other, Heartseed will get bored and force something drastic on one of the members to stir things up. To prevent that, Inaba thinks that each member should take control of the situation so he gives up. Still, that is wishful thinking as Yui remains at home while something bad happened to Inaba from the episode preview.
While things turn for the worse, there were some hilarious moments triggered by their desires. The one with Iori saying “Yahoo” after finishing a quiz was just plain silly. I don’t know there are people out there who want to say that for fun during an examination. At the same time, I think it will get the professors angry if you do it in real life. Also, Taichi’s desire to sleep was rather hilarious. His younger sister might have enjoyed it while being worried about him at the same time. Besides the other incident where he acts like a White Knight and Inaba almost had Iori do something dirty, I felt that the events in store with the club fighting again while Inaba probably lands in the hospital from Heartseed’s 2nd intervention caused the situation to worsen.
Not sure if Yui is suffering the most to be honest, because Inaba is very near to get completely broken by all this stress…:|
I thought that way since Yui refuses to attend school since her desires will cause her to beat up more men… but yes, Inaba is probably the one that is the most affected since she lacks any trust and with the desires thing, it takes everything to the next level.
Regarding the scene where Inaba yells at Yui, it seemed to me that while Inaba was voicing a concern regarding the dangers Heartseed might put them through, the whole situation seems to hearken back to how Inaba was the one who wondered if they ought to do precisely what Yui is doing. Inaba herself would like to “shut herself in her room” (whether literally or figuratively), as she still feels a disconnect from her peers. At this point I feel Inaba may trust her friends to some degree, but she still doesn’t trust herself. The fact Taichi voiced disappointment in Inaba’s defeatist attitude at that point only seemed to confirm to her that she isn’t fit to be part of their group.
It’s all just so terribly sad, isn’t it? It makes me wonder if Heartseed’s experiment is designed to show the negative effects that may ensue when people reveal their “true selves” with no holding back.
I kind of see that with her, even with the body swapping thing back in the earlier episodes. Her lack of trust in herself is noticeable not because of what will happen with the body swapping thing with other people doing silly things, but unleashing her true desires definitely makes things a lot worse. From what she did in the last episode, I can understand why she would feel this way… But either way, people are going to break one way or another when they can no longer hold anything back.
