Taichi is a White Knight? Who would have guessed!
Like the last episode, I think Kokoro Connect continues to impress me with the amount of the amount of drama shown so far mixed with some comedy. Although some considers Taichi as problematic because of his kindness, I still think he is a decent lead for his actions. As you see his interactions with the girls, he is willing to take some sacrifices in order to help them out and win their affection. Since he did that with Yui and now, its Himeko’s chance.
From the first episode, Himeko has a rather pessimistic outlook. She couldn’t trust anybody, especially with the body swapping going around for the fact that anyone can potentially do bad things, leaving the owner with the burden. Of course, this also creates a dilemma for her since she wants to have fun with her friends. I can understand why she feels this way since human nature makes trust hard to earn. There is always a chance that a friend or someone close to you will do something behind your back that might upset you. For instance, your best friend might read your secret diary that is on your desk without you knowing.
Then again, I may be looking too deep into this and it’s something else. Perhaps the problem lies within her own self. To lack trust, she must have seen a lack of morality in herself and/or other people. From what she said, it’s apparent that she feels distrustful for the fact that changing herself will cause her to become a different person. Of course, it’s silly to worry about that since there are always people who will accept her as she is.
Aside from that, I find it hilarious on how Taichi resolves this. He simply said that he masturbated when he saw pictures of her, Yui and Iori. Shocking as Himeko also does the same with Taichi. Believe it or not, this is one of those moments like the Groin Kick that shows how much of a White Knight he actually is. Maybe he is attempting to make all the girls happy by having a harem ending? If that is the case, Yoshifumi will probably get Friendzoned forever.
On the other hand, hearing Iori’s past is very heartbreaking. Aside from the fact that her mother married and divorced so many times while dealing with a violent stepfather, Iori lost her true self in the process. After hearing her story, I think she faces a really tough life. Although most Asian Families have high expectations on their child’s success to the point where they become really strict, Iori’s situation is rather unique. She changes her personality just to please someone. I know there are some instances where people change themselves just to win over a crush or friend, but I never heard it happen to a family member. I just can’t imagine how she feels without a sense of her “true” self since she did it so many times. All the body swapping and personality changes make it even worse. It’s a very difficult issue to resolve, but I think Taichi will help out one way or another. After all, he knows how to resolve any problems the girls have!
Harem end for Taichi? I like his personality so I sort of accept such an ending as well.
Harem end = happy end! 😀
It kind of reminds me of the ending that Ken wanted in Seitokai no Ichizon… but if they go with that, then Taichi’s best friend, Yoshifumi will get screwed.. Either way you look at it, one girl will end up getting left out since there is only two males in the club.
