It’s just another day at the cultural festival until…
Unlike last time, not much happens besides the fact that the Fortune Telling club is missing the “Wheel of Fortune” trot card and the Go club missing some pieces. In both instances, they had a mysterious note. I wonder who is causing trouble this time. We probably find out in the next episode or so.
On the other hand, there was a standoff between Mayaka and the Shrine Maiden (which remains unnamed) that particularly sparked my interest. Apparently, she believes that all manga is good and reviews are therefore pointless. Considering that I have been blogging about anime for quite a while, I don’t agree with the statement that the club president made. Just like Manga, Anime is not created equal. This is why we still have Anime Blogs so we can share our thoughts and review them. This is also the reason why episodic blogs exists. It’s because people will always have different opinions and analyses pertaining to the episode they saw. Of course, in my editorial I wrote about two weeks ago, you will see a very simular polarized debate just like the one seen in this episode, except it pertains to episodic vs. editorial blogs. Clearly, Mayaka is right since people’s opinions are subjective and it’s up to the person to see if a certain series is a masterpiece or not.
Aside from that, the episode was fairly enjoyable despite Satoshi not winning the Quiz. Also, it seemed that Oreki really enjoyed the pictures that were in the envelope. They probably turned him on and Eru apparently noticed that. Even so, it’s clear that they have a romantic relationship even though they aren’t aware of it. That is too bad, since I really liked how she looked in the maid and cheerleader’s outfit. She was adorable in those two outfits while the others look mediocre.
[fanboy mode] Of course Mayaka is right, such a cute girl can’t be wrong. *__*[/fanboy mode]
😛
She put up a good fight, although the sign is more entertaining. Still, makes me wonder if the whole thing is staged or not… probably it is.
I think you made some mistakes with the manga club argument. The cosplaying sempai is not the president, that’s the girl who puts up the ad. Also, Mayaka is the one that is arguing that manga quality is not subjective.
I think you are incorrect… you should probably rewatch that scene since I’m 100% sure that the argument is about the relevance of reviews.
I’m sure this is only the beginning of the missing objects and the notes that get left behind. It seems whoever it is, is stealing objects of minimal importance, and they’ll probably continue to do so. My first instinct is to say that whoever is stealing the stuff, is simply doing it because they can, but maybe the reason will somehow tie in to the school festival. Also, considering Houtarou will no doubt be dragged into this mess to solve the mystery, maybe once he solves it, it will turn out to great publicity for the Classics Club and they’ll be able to sell the rest of the anthologies. Just some speculations….
As for Mayaka, it seems we may actually get some character development from this arc, which I’m glad to see. Her character was in desperate need of being fleshed out, and it seems like we’ll be getting just that in the upcoming episodes!
I think that is probably the direction that the mystery is heading in this arc. So far, it has been more about slice of life and the stolen objects happening in the foreground. Then again, two guys gave items to Oreki when they brought an anthology, so it can explain something.
As for Mayaka, her character development is rather good in this episode since she hasn’t have much focus since the first episode. Most of it got concentrated on Eru and Oreki, but it was definitely a treat to see that.
I loved how they made the Miko vs Sexless Being poster beforehand. Just as planned. Although the Prez did looked genuinely shocked when Sexless Being brought up the manga from last year.
