Time for some intense training!
It seems that this show is trending away from actual pirating, but instead some competition. But hey, at least it’s something as there is some conflict brewing with the dinghy race. Things such as the outsiders trying to shoot down the participants besides the usual rule breaking are the reasons why they hired the Bentenmaru to provide security. Makes sense since Marika has her name engraved around the universe thanks to some of her jobs.
Like the last episode that focused on Grunhilde, Ai gets her own episode. We already know that she is a really shy girl who loves piloting these small ships. However, it’s amazing how she manages to successfully pilot the mess Kane created in the simulator while others had trouble since she already knows how to maneuver. Still, the part she got worried about is the sailing on the waves. She was so behind in the beginning, until Kane instructed his crew to generate a big wave. From this, she successfully beats Marika, which is a good thing since Marika already has a job to do and doesn’t need to participate! Had she won, Ai’s dream would get crushed and we don’t want that.
Aside from the hilarious hell training Kane brought on the girls, I noticed a few minor details. I simply laughed when Gruier fell into the water really early in the race. It seems that the producers are finally giving some attention to her younger sister, Grunhilde that got shafted for most of the series. Still, it seems like the organizers of the race has something dirty up their sleeves as they might start shooting down participants that breaks the rules. Whatever that might be, we have to find out when the actual competition starts.
