This voice sounds very familiar…
Quite frankly, I have experienced many roles from Kugimiya Rie, who is supposedly the “Queen of Tsundere.” Although some of her roles sound slightly different, the voice has a similar quality to it. Melty is no exception with her somewhat flat chest and short stature. Not to mention, her voice reminded me of Minase Iori and Aria, except she is the ice cream witch. Quite fitting since tsundere girls tend to have cold personalities. Even so, I admit that she is kind of cute despite abusing the crap out of Sorbet, which is a cute imp thingy. I felt bad for him for all the mistreatment he takes from her.
Aside from her tsundere greatness, there is a lot of bread and sweets in this episode. This is a let down since the last few episodes took the emphasis off of it. Despite this, it’s necessary to develop Melty a bit more as she discovers the bread of happiness and it enables her to make great ice cream. So, being more open does wonders since it gives some meaning to your work.
So far, I suppose Shining Hearts is a somewhat entertaining experience with the character designs even though they talk too much about bread. Sure, Kugimiya Rie Tsundere will probably push me to play Iori’s arc again because I love these characters, but the next episode looks promising. Rick takes out the sword once again while the others help him with their weapons of some sort against some fox girl.
So is this anime like Yakitate! Japan?
I don’t know since I haven’t seen that show, but many did mention Shining Hearts being similar… except without fanservice.
