I fear this day… Now, I can never see idols in the same way thanks to this anime.
Needless to say, I don’t expect much when I first saw the premise of AKB0048. It’s just ridiculous to have something like prohibition, except it deals with entertainment and Idols aren’t allowed to have live performances. Add the secret police, some mecha and other things shooting at the girls while they fire back while singing, you have one big clusterf**k as shown in the beginning. I wouldn’t mind if the girls focused on fabulous singing and dancing. However, when you add other crap too it, it just makes it so chaotic.
Aside from the guerilla warfare concert, the story fast forward to four years later when Nagisa, Yuuka and Orine gets invited to compete in auditions for the next generation of AKB0048. Yeah, that is interesting at the very least since Nagisa’s dad disapproves the whole thing and Yuuka’s boyfriend not wanting her to do it. Combine it with Nagisa’s crying and indecisiveness from what her parents said, I just didn’t feel the emotion in the drama at all.
After completing the first episode, I pretty much got the same feeling Caraniel had when she shared her experiences with Inushinde. To me, this show was so bad in an outrageous way and it wreaks Xenoglossia. From this, I feel that AKB0048 can never top the greatness and the awesomeness of The Idolmaster Anime (also, the performances in that anime was a hell lot better than all that vomit-inducing CG in this show). Although its creative, the idea of warfare and idols just do not mix. Then again, I will probably enjoyed it more if I had a drinking game. With that, I officially announce the “AKB0048 drinking game” and alcohol is not necessary! Just take a sip when…
- The idols throw bombs and fight the police
- The police fire their weapons at the idols
- Explosions
- The sight of the “No Idol” sign
- People telling the girls not to sing or do anything Idol related
- Any remark that Nagisa’s father says
- Yuuka calling Nagisa a coward
- Nagisa cries
- Any type of Drama
Believe me, you will do a lot of drinking before the episode ends. So if you are brave enough to do it, just contact me on the SCCSAV Google Group or on Twitter and we figure out a time this Saturday to have some fun. Aside from that, I probably won’t blog much about this show because have better things to write about.
This looks too amazing
ly ridiculousto not watch at least one episode. [lolface.jpg]Like I said, If I had a drinking game with some non-alocholic beverages, it would have been a bit more enjoyable. But still, if I want to watch some fighting with mecha and military, I may as well watch Macross Frontier, which does a better job… but this, the premise is so dumb that I want to facepalm. Also, the CG performance was just awkward and horrible. It looked too 3D for anime that it feels out of place. Still, I wonder how the next episodes handle it although I won’t blog about it.
I remember blogging about it and it ranks top as the most anticipated anime this Spring according to Big Globe Poll. I guess japanese otakus really have a different taste
I have read somewhere that the show has a very low anticipation rating a few months back. I suspect that they don’t have much interest in the AkB48. As for me, I don’t really care about real life idol groups, except for Sphere (which is just a bunch of voice actresses that have talent) since its more about cute looks rather than how good they could sing.
If you watch the concert, the terrorists win!
I dunno, if you combine all the things that various authority figures around the world hate (public assembly, girls doing stuff, fun), then this kind of show becomes more plausible.
Now imagine a cop wrestling you to the ground and pepper spraying you for possessing Idolmaster goods. 😛
Just like the Occupiers? Well that is a good one, but would be bad for me since I own those said goods (3 CDs and two games to be exact)…
In all honestly, I didn’t like AKB0048 not because it’s not Idolmaster, but the whole premise is stupid and I have zero interest in AKB48. Even so, I have a bad feeling that this show will fail because it seems that Mari Okada is losing her touch, especially after the mess with Black Rock Shooter, which isn’t well received. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed Hanasaku Iroha, AnoHana and True Tears. If it was something like girls singing and dancing along with behind the scenes stuff instead of this fighting crap, I would have enjoyed it a bit more. As it stands, it’s ridiculously terrible and deserves a drinking game.
actully if you will look now at the pepoles first impressions on episode 1 you will see they think this is pretty good by the drama and not the battle
Sorry, but I have to disagree since there is no feeling to the drama. It’s mostly because the girls have nothing exciting about them.
Ribbon Tasers.
That’s all I wanted to say.
